The movie starts with "who are these guys and why are they fighting?" After the credits a rape scene. Darky, the good guy, intervenes and the bad guys turn the tables on him and blame him for the rape and murder. He fights them off and is about to escape. Enter Alexander Lo Rei, the new sheriff in town. He helps to detain Darky. He soon learns things are corrupt in this town.
These movies are well known for being made up as they went along. This is a good example of that. The two opening scenes are really good, the good guy trying to intervene and the police officer making a mistake. That was good drama but the problem is where to go after that and what to fill the next hour with?
The reviewer from Oz pointed out that half way through the movie the leads are killed and another story starts. He is right. This is two movies sewn together. I can't explain why or how that happens but it has occurred a few times in this genre. Plus the movie is English dubbed for VHS rentals back in the 1980s with loose translations that often result in another different story being told. I am surprised they actually went the extra step of pan and scan for the VHS. Then there's the titles – nothing to do with anything except a VHS rental eye catcher "Ninja!"
Yes, we have an incoherent impossible to follow mess here, a fine example of fight scenes with little or nothing to tie them together. If you are a hard core fan of this genre you just drink another beer and keep watching. The fights are not bad at all. I recommend the fast forward button for when they are not fighting.
Overall this movie is only for fans of the genre. I cannot recommend it and rate it below average for the year and genre. As a hard core fan I watched it once because I want to watch them all but I doubt I will ever watch it again.
