The movie was initially banned on the pretext that it showed an unfavorable image of Greece. The press protested and eventually a censored version was released. Director Alexandrakis said that it was so heavily censored that he barely recognized his own film.
Alekos Alexandrakis and Aliki Georgouli were a couple in real life. The got married in 1956. This film was considered a financial disaster for them and they divorced a few years later, in 1965.
