(1992) Noblest Way To Die
(In Chinese with English subtitles)
ART HOUSE ACTION DRAMA
Another artistic Chinese sword period film with a simplistic story line I don't care too much about, involving betrayals and set ups anybody should be able to see happen a mile a way. The beginning has two of the best swordsman dueling it out with one another until one of them loses, with the agreement that he'd give up his only biological son, anyways he also happens to be a leader of his own empire and is very righteous. Anyways, as the years go by, this guy raises this other guys child as his own and somehow manipulates him to turn around to kill his own biological father with a sword to whom he doesn't even know about. He of course eventually realizes what had just happen and seeks for some retribution. Again, artistic action films do not excite me, particularly if it's as depressing and annoying as this one. This style is similar to what's been done on other films such as "Hero", "Ashes Of Time", and "Fallen Angels" to name a few!
