Mick Jagger got a call from his label recently with some news: While working on a reissue of the Rolling Stones’ 1973 album Goats Head Soup, the crew found some unreleased tracks. “I remember thinking, ‘Oh, no,’” Jagger says. “Unreleased tracks, to me that always means a lot of work. It’s like, ‘Things that you didn’t like and didn’t finish!’”
Jagger’s mind changed when he heard the music. “Actually, it’s not bad at all,” he says. Soon, isolating at his home in the European countryside, he...

“Their best album since Exile on Main St!” an FM DJ gushed in 1974 when the Rolling Stones released It’s Only Rock ’n Roll. Only one other new record had come between them, but the implication was clear: that record, Goats Head Soup, was, well, unappetizing. A Stones album with a strummed love-song ballad ripe for Am radio (“Angie”) and a pretty silly song about the demonic underworld (“Dancing with Mr. D.”)? Goats Head Soup had those and more, and looking back, the album feels historic: The mixed response it...

The song was cut in October 1974 with Keith Richards and Page both handling guitar duties and Traffic’s Ric Grech on bass. “My recollection is we walked in at the end of a Zeppelin session,...

The Rolling Stones are rereleasing their 1973 LP Goats Head Soup as a deluxe box set featuring rarities, outtakes and alternative mixes from the sessions, a new stereo mix of the original album, a complete show from the accompanying tour and three previously unreleased tracks from the period.
One of the new songs, “Criss Cross,” dropped Thursday with a new video. (It was originally known to fans as “Criss Cross Man” from various bootlegs.) The other new tracks are “All the Rage” and “Scarlet,” which features guitar work by Jimmy Page.

Amazon Studios has picked up worldwide rights to “Sylvie’s Love,” a period romance starring Tessa Thompson, according to an individual with knowledge of the deal.
The film, which Amazon acquired the worldwide rights to for a high seven-figure price tag, premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival.
Written and directed by Eugene Ashe, “Sylvie’s Love” is a lush love story set in the cool jazz era of New York City that spans several years in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Thompson gives a powerful performance in the film as Ashe, melds music into his romance for a rich period piece. “Sylvie’s Love” played in competition in the U.S. Dramatic section.

For weeks our “Project Runway” odds have indicated a two-way race between the consistent polish of Sebastian Grey and the adventurous eccentricity of Hester Sunshine. However, with only five designers left in the competition, Sunshine has plummeted, while Garo Sparo has moved up. Now we’re predicting an all-male top three. Do you agree with this sudden shift? Make or update your own predictions here before Thursday night’s new episode.
Our odds are calculated by combining the predictions of “Runway” fans we poll every week in our predictions center, and this week they’re still high on Grey’s chances. In last week’s 11th challenge, “New York City of Dreams,” he had to create a look for an NYC civic employee that pushed its creativity to its limits. His client wanted a vintage Disney princess feel, which Grey had to translate into a look that felt modern and also true to his aesthetic.

It took three challenge wins, but last week Hester Sunshine finally took the lead in our “Project Runway” odds on who will win the season. Though she didn’t get a high score in last week’s Elton John challenge, “The Stitch is Back,” she didn’t get a low score either, so she has extended her lead in our forecasts. Do you agree she’s more and more safely out front with each passing week? You can make your own predictions for tonight’s show here in our predictions center.
Our odds are determined by combining the predictions of “Runway” fans who give us their forecasts here every week, and going into “Stitch” we gave Sunshine leading odds of 41/20, just a notch ahead of Sebastian Grey, who had been our front-runner in prior weeks. In “The Stitch is Back,” last week’s “Project Runway” challenge inspired by Elton John, designer Tessa Clark landed in the judges’ bottom three for her too-subtle performance look. It was her first time getting a low score, which means there’s only one “Runway” contestant left who has yet to land in the bottom three: Sebastian Grey. Is he destined to ride his consistency all the way to the finale, or is he due for a misstep?
Grey was an early judges’ favorite, winning the second design challenge, “The Future is Here.” Then he was the runner-up in the very next challenge, “All the Rage.” But that’s it. While he hasn’t gotten a single low score from the judges this season, he hasn’t gotten another high score either. He has been safe for the last five challenges in a row, and he has gotten by far...

Fashion is fickle, so “Project Runway” always has its ups and downs, but throughout this season the person I feel has gotten the short end of the stick isn’t one of the designers, it’s one of the models. Kate has been subjected to one bad outfit after another, and it’s not because she’s incapable of wearing clothes. It’s because the designers seem incapable of dressing full-figured women.
This season’s models have diverse sizes, shapes, races and even gender identities (Mimi is the show’s first transgender model), but it has been a recurring theme all season: the designers are scared to death of curvy women. In the season premiere Kate was dressed by Frankie Lewis and ended up in an infamous blue body suit that was practically falling apart.

Sebastian Grey‘s sophisticated designs and impeccable tailoring made him the early front-runner to win “Project Runway” season 17. He led in our odds for several weeks, but there’s a new designer at the top according to the fans we’ve polled this week in our predictions center. They say Renee Hill is now the woman to beat. Do you agree? You can make or update your own forecasts right here before tonight’s show.
Grey and Hill have both wowed the judges with their polish. Grey won the design challenge in “The Future is Here,” where he not only had the winning look but also helped construct one of his teammates’ looks so that his entire team could claim victory. That earned him immunity in the next challenge, so the judges were even more impressed that he made such an incredibly sophisticated look in “All the Rage” when he could have phoned it in.

The “Project Runway” designers came in out of the cold in episode five, “High Fashion to High Street.” After last week’s unconventional materials challenge in the woods the dozen remaining contestants stepped up … to the streets. So who finished the challenge on easy street, and who was told to hit the bricks? Find out below in our live blog for all the minute-by-minute developments as they happen.
“High Street” introduced the designers to Dapper Dan, a Harlem fashion icon who brought together the worlds of sophisticated design and casual streetwear. And that was the challenge: to create their own interpretations of luxury streetwear. But that wasn’t the most difficult part. The designers also had an even bigger time crunch than usual: they only had until midnight that night to finish their looks.

I love Kovid Kapoor on “Project Runway” for his positivity and infectious attitude, but that hasn’t translated to consistently strong designs over the course of the first four episodes this season. He has narrowly avoided elimination twice already, and now we think there’s a strong chance he’ll be eliminated in episode five. But there’s someone else we think is even likelier to be on the chopping block: Sonia Kasparian.
According to the combined predictions of Gold Derby users, Kasparian gets leading odds of 12/5 of being sent home. We didn’t see very much of her in the first three episodes of the show, and when she was more prominently featured last week in the “Survive in Style” unconventional materials challenge, she ended up in the bottom three for her crumbling Mylar dress. Perhaps producers haven’t featured her very much because they know she’s not long for the fashion world.

After futuristic body modifications and full-body prints, it was time for the “Project Runway” designers to tackle the dreaded unconventional materials challenge in tonight’s episode, “Survive in Style.” And there was yet another twist: this challenge would take place entirely outdoors, including the sewing, sleeping and even the runway show itself. So how did they do? Find out below in our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments as they happen.
One of the big questions entering this week’s challenge was the fate of Hester Sunshine. After two weeks of seeming disorganized and unsure of herself and her fabric choices, she redeemed herself by winning “All the Rage” with a playful, polished look in a red and white print that was like Red Riding Hood at a Parisian picnic. But was that win just a fluke or would she be able to follow it up with another success...

Tonight is the unconventional materials challenge on “Project Runway,” so can Rakan Aldeen survive after finishing in the bottom two in last week’s episode, “All the Rage“? This is an especially bad week to be in the judges’ crosshairs, and many of our readers who are predicting tonight’s show don’t think he’ll make it.
With more than a dozen designers in the competition, we didn’t see much of Aldeen in the first two episodes of “Runway” this season, and he advanced safely through the competition both times. He finally got more screentime in “All the Rage,” but not necessarily in a good way. The challenge was to design an entire look out of a single head-to-toe print. Christian Siriano thought he was in trouble right away when he was shopping at Mood and chose a bland beige fabric, but Aldeen bought it anyway against Siriano’s advice.

Sebastian Grey is the man to beat on “Project Runway” season 17. That’s according to the combined predictions of Gold Derby’s users this week, and it’s a big jump from last week when he ranked fourth in our racetrack odds. However, Grey didn’t win the design challenge in last week’s show. That was Hester Sunshine, but we’re still skeptical about her chances to win.
Though Grey didn’t win the “All the Rage” challenge, it’s easy to see why the episode launched him to the top of our charts. The Colombian designer had won the previous episode, “The Future is Here,” which was a team challenge in which he not only created his own look but helped construct his teammate Tessa Clark‘s too.

One day you’re in, and the next you’re out. Nowhere was that “Project Runway” catchphrase more evident than in the rise and fall of Nadine Ralliford, who was one of the front-runners to win the season early on according to our users, but who was eliminated last week in 14th place. We asked fans what they thought of that outcome, and they overwhelmingly agreed with the judges’ decision to send her home, even though the week before our readers thought she was on the right side of a heated conflict. Scroll down for our complete poll results at the bottom of this post.
Ralliford seemed irritated for most of her time on “Runway,” but our readers thought her frustration was justified in “The Future is Here,” during which she was assigned to a team with Hester Sunshine. Ralliford’s design was compromised by Sunshine’s demands for a particular fabric,...

The remodeled 17th season of “Project Runway” that is back on Bravo had a rough start according to Gold Derby readers. Long-time fans griped about how host Karlie Kloss and mentor Christian Siriano were no Heidi Klum or Tim Gunn. And that Frankie Lewis should have been cut on the first episode instead of designer Cavanaugh Baker. Their feelings were vindicated after Frankie failed to deliver on episode 2 and was told to vamoose.
Senior editors Daniel Montgomery and Susan Wloszczyna were therefore happy to discuss the much-improved third episode of the season, “All the Rage.” The challenge of making a complete design, including accessories, from a single print fabric was far less ephemeral than the previous two tests.
As Daniel noted, “Sounds easy enough when you go to Mood and you have to find one fabric and you’re done. It turned out to be a much more dramatic challenge than I expected.

Nothing says drama like more than a dozen designers in a tight workroom. “Project Runway” season 17 has been full of conflict and controversy, and that’s just after two weeks. Were there any more fireworks in episode three, “All the Rage”? From that episode title, how could there not be? Find out below in our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments as they happen.
“All the Rage” tasked designers with creating complete head-to-toe looks with one pattern. Easy, right? All you need to find is one fabric when shopping at Mood. Then again, that increases the pressure to find just the right fabric. Choose poorly and your challenge could be over before it begins.

One hundred seventy features have been submitted for consideration in the Documentary Feature category for the 90th Academy Awards. That’s 25 more than 2016. Assuming they all book their qualifying runs in New York and Los Angeles, the members of the documentary branch have just a few more weeks to see as many films as possible and file their votes for the shortlist of 15 to be announced in December. They’re each supposed to watch an assigned list of about 20 films, plus as many more as they can.

Should you ever see “All the Rage (Saved by Sarno),” you’re going to want to embrace it. (That’s as much of a prognostication as it is a warning.) The directors, David Beilinson, Michael Galinsky and Suki Hawley, all seem like warm, emotionally present people. Sometimes their movie, which unmistakably comes across as a labor of love, feels that way too: Alive and engaged. However, it’s hard to work past the project’s limitations, both creatively and budgetary. “All the Rage” is a documentary with a thesis and not much else. The central case being made is for Dr.

Is that crippling back pain that flares up now and then, leaving you writhing on the floor, all in your head? Do you owe your carpal-tunnel symptoms not to your workplace posture but to your parents' emotional failings? Those are the suggestions of All the Rage, which champions the work of retired physician John Sarno, author of books including Healing Back Pain: The Mind-Body Connection. Though sometimes ungainly as a piece of cinema, the film manages to be persuasive while avoiding the insistent pitch that sometimes makes other alternative-medicine docs sound like conspiracy theories. Even so, it's unlikely to influence...

Dr. John Sarno has, for many decades, been the face of a controversial movement in the medical community. As the head of the Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine at New York University, Sarno pioneered a psychosomatic treatment for chronic pain that focused less on surgeries and physical therapy, and more on emotional repression. His patients, he says, suffer from tension myositis syndrome (Tms), a condition where symptoms are created by the mind to cover up repressed traumas from childhood.

Allie X is one of the most intriguing up and coming pop stars in the game. The Canadian singer and songwriter bounced onto the scene with her Ep, CollXtion I, which boasted huge tracks like “Hello” and “Catch.” Her follow-up, CollXtion II Unsolved, is on its way, and so is her brand new single, “That’s So Us” – and it may just be her best single release to date.
Allie X took to social media to hype up the release with a brief clip of the sugary sweet song. Though the clip is only ten seconds long, it takes less than that to get the hook cemented in your head, as the lyrics, “What I like about you, baby / Is how you annoy me daily / But you still f–cking amaze me / S.O.S, S.O.S,” are practically unforgettable. When you’re dressed in style, however, that dreaded feeling of hitting the gym often diminishes. The best styles to shop for are those the celebrities are wearing, and right now, that means bright colors and bold patterns.

Suki Hawley, David Beilinson and Michael Galinsky of Rumur Films are an amazing trio of filmmakers who have made many important must-see documentaries, such as Battle for Brooklyn and Who Took Johnny?.
But with their latest project, All the Rage, they are attempting to actually change viewer’s lives.
All the Rage is a profile of Dr. John Sarno, the American doctor who has been a nearly lone — but absolutely essential — voice in the wilderness of modern day medicine. Dr. Sarno has long championed a holistic mind-body approach to solving numerous common ailments, including — most famously — back pain. His contention that most back pain is the result of psychological trauma over physical trauma has earned him the devotion and respect of the thousands of people he has cured.
Some of Dr. Sarno’s most enthusiastic supporters include Larry David, John Stossel, Senator Tom Harkin and Howard Stern.
