The couple of segments of this of this Ruskie drama which remain make it look as if it would have been an intriguing item in the Line of Pirandello who it's star did later film with FEU MATHIAS PASCAL.
Then Russian Idol Ivan, in heavy mascara, is shown coming back from the war minus his right arm. With wife Lissenko, he sets out for the studio where everyone greets him warmly except new star Boris Linskii who occupies his dressing room. Our hero wanders about encountering old co workers and evidence of his previous successes before sitting down to sign a new deal.
Film making is good and the sinister joke premise must have given the film some extra bite in it's day.
