Industry veterans Lloyd Braun, Sarah Bremner and Noah Oppenheim have launched Prologue Entertainmentbacked by Jeff Zuckerand RedBird Capital Partners.

Prologue will develop and produce features and premium scripted series and has boarded several projects including Kathryn Bigelow’s untitled White House thriller at Netflix, written by Oppenheim and expected in 2025.

The Root Of All Evil at Atomic Monster and Blumhouse is a psychological thriller based on Ravi Somaiya’s reporting on an exorcism in Mexico City. Sean Tretta is adapting the screenplay.

Rounding out the initial slate is female survival thriller Trapped, based on Jill Blankenship’s Black List screenplay.

The indie studio, with financial backing from Jeff Zucker and RedBird Capital, will develop and produce premium scripted series and film content.

Interior Chinatown is a groundbreaking TV show that breaks the rules of traditional storytelling. It turns the normal police procedural into a razor-sharp critique of how Asians are portrayed in media. Based on Charles Yu’s National Book Award-winning book, the show is about a waiter named Willis Wu (Jimmy O. Yang) who is always in the background of a made-up cop show called “Black & White.”

The show is a meta-narrative that looks at identity and questions the stereotypical roles that Asian characters usually play in Western entertainment. Willis is more than just a waiter; he’s a “Generic Asian Man” who wants to be the sought-after “Kung Fu Guy” and is desperate to break free from the limiting stereotypes that have shaped his life.

I didn’t really know what to expect from Interior Chinatown going in. I have not read the original novel by Charles Yu, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer for this adaptation; nor was I familiar with anything this cast had done, save for Chloe Bennet’s work on Agents of Shield.

But Taika Waititi’s involvement quickly caught my eye and the hook of an average guy roped into a massive conspiracy felt very strong to me, so I was more than willing to give it a chance. And I am very glad I did because Interior Chinatown is one of the most refreshing takes on the often played-out detective genre that I’ve seen in years. Though bear in mind that this only applies to the first five episodes, as that was what was made available to me at time of writing.

Hulu has unveiled the trailer for its new limited series “Interior Chinatown” from executive producers Charles Yu and Taika Waititi. Based on Yu’s novel of the same name, all 10 episodes will be available to stream Nov. 19.

Jimmy O. Yang is stepping out of the background and into the action in “Interior Chinatown.”

In the trailer for “Interior Chinatown,” Yang’s Willis Wu laments that he lives a relatively simple life, feeling like a background character as he works at a restaurant in Chinatown, when in fact, he has unknowingly been relegated to the background of a police procedural titled “Black & White.”

“Nothing ever changes — nothing exciting ever happens to me or you or anyone we know,” Yang’s Willis tells to his coworker and friend, found in Ronny Chieng. “I feel like I’m a background character in someone else’s story.”

Just as soon as he can blink, Willis’ fate changes as he’s plunged into the action when he inadvertently witnesses a crime outside the restaurant.

But instead of generating excitement, his announcement has been met with skepticism and mistrust from the gaming community.

Molyneux’s reputation for overpromising and underdelivering has left many gamers wary of his claims, especially when he suggests that this could be his last game due to his age and “lifestyle.”

Marvel’s Blade has been dulled yet again, as star Aaron Pierre has exited the project, marking just the most recent snag in the project, which is set to be part of Phase Six in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As Pierre confirmed to Variety, “Early on, there were conversations…As the project evolved, I’m no longer part of that — attached.” Pierre’s character in Marvel’s Blade was unknown.

There has been a lot of change throughout the development of Marvel’s revisiting of the Blade franchise, most of which relates to talent behind the camera. For starters, Watchmen’s Stacy Osei-Kuffour was hired as writer in 2021 before being replaced by Michael Starrbury (Colin in Black & White) and a handful of others, including True Detective’s Nic Pizzolatto and later Logan’s Michael Green. It’s widely believed that Aaron Pierre’s character would be dropped as subsequent drafts came in.

CSA said today that the Array founder will receive its 2024 Lynn Stalmaster Award for Career Achievement at the 39th annual Artios Awards gala March 7 in Los Angeles.

Mumbai, Feb 18 (Ians) Nikita Rawal, who was seen in ‘Black & White’ and ‘Amma Ki Boli’, said that she chose to preserve her healthier eggs for later use so that she can have best of both worlds – pursue her career and then start a family.

The actress said: “In this day and age where career takes priority for all, men and women, it has become quite necessary for a step like this. It gives us an opportunity to have a choice, and have the best of both worlds. It is a great way for women to build their career and then start a family and give 100 per cent to both.”

Floyd Sneed, the Canadian drummer who powered a string of 1970s hits with Three Dog Night and provided backup vocals for one of the band’s biggest hits, died January 27. He was 80.

His death was announced on the band’s Facebook page. A cause of death was not specified.

“Three Dog Night is saddened to learn of the passing of Floyd Sneed,” the band statement reads. “Floyd was an absolutely wonderful human being, a complete original and a sweetheart of a man. He was also an extraordinarily unique drummer who brought so much to Three Dog Night’s sound. Floyd broke many barriers both musically and culturally; he also influenced countless other drummers with his amazing technique.

Nazis die and Finns triumph in the Finnish WW2 thriller “Sisu,” a spaghetti Western–style action-adventure set in the Lapland plains of Finland. In this polished genre exercise, a stubborn Finnish gold prospector runs away from, and also violently dispatches, a group of Nazis during the war’s concluding months.

Writer-director Jalmari Helander doesn’t really develop his post-post-modern pastiche beyond its basic high-concept premise, so “Sisu” — premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival — never becomes more than an energetically realized live-action cartoon. Thankfully, Helander and his collaborators deliver a good-enough potboiler, thanks especially to the invigorating contributions of cinematographer Kjell Lagerroos and editor Juho Virolainen.

There’s not much more to “Sisu”, but it certainly looks good and moves briskly from one action scene to the next.

That said, you might be disappointed by “Sisu” if you expect it to develop, either in terms of narrative momentum or dramatic tension.

Treasure Town is an island in the middle of the city – a lawless neighborhood that nobody runs, but everybody claims. Children run the streets, to the annoyance of the yakuza; while the police holds little real power. But this is the chaotic order in place. That is until Hebi and his evil empire want to raze Treasure Town to the ground and build an amusement park in the name of profit. This evil force unites the inhabitants against this outsider as they gradually realize the plans in place, and it’s up to out two young heroes to fight back.

Exclusive: Juno Films has acquired rights to the experimental drama The Same Storm, from writer-director Peter Hedges (Ben Is Back), for distribution in the U.S., Canada and the UK. The film will open at the Quad Cinema in NYC and the Laemmle Santa Monica on October 14.

Filmed during the Covid pandemic using cell phones and laptops, The Same Storm invites viewers into the lives of 24 characters as they navigate the spring and summer of 2020. West Side Story, Encanto and In the Heights are among the nominations for the 37th annual Imagen Awards, which recognize work by Latino talent, new faces and seasoned creatives.

“After two years of streaming celebrations, we are ecstatic to be back in person and to honor those who made significant contributions to the television, film and streaming spaces,” What We Do in the Shadows star Harvey Guillén, who presented the nominees, said. “With the caliber of talent and the diversity of the roles and projects, our expectations were wildly exceeded with 445 entries, up 125 from 2021! We are beyond proud of this year’s nominees and all those who submitted. Given the excellence of the entries, the judges had a difficult time selecting those to be nominated.”

Hamilton, Aug 15 (Ians) Former New Zealand cricketer Ross Taylor revealed that he attempted to get England Test skipper Ben Stokes play cricket for his country of birth. In his recently-published autobiography, “Ross Taylor Black & White”, Taylor talked about his idea to get Stokes play for New Zealand while he was playing for English county side Durham in 2010.

“He was 18 or 19 and very much a Kiwi. Over a Guinness, I asked him if he wanted to come and play in New Zealand. He was keen so I sent a message to New Zealand Cricket CEO Justin Vaughan saying this guy Stokes was a really good young cricketer and interested in playing for New Zealand,” wrote Taylor in his book, an extract of which was published by stuff.co.nz on Monday.

But Vaughan’s response was not-so promising, as he stressed on Stokes starting from domestic cricket in New Zealand...

A massive update for Pokémon Go is inbound. Wong Fei Hung movies are a staple of Martial Arts Cinema going back to the Black & White era of Kwang Tak Hing, to Gordon Liu in “Martial Club” and even Sammo Hung in “Around the World in 80 Days”.So any new movie is automatically steeped in the lineage of the canon. In 2014, “Rise of the Legend” attempted a fresh take on the story of Wong Fei Hung, stripping it down to the bare parts and removing a lot of the elements familiar to regular watchers of Martial Arts Cinema. Whilst the success or failure of that movie is open to individual interpretation, at least it stood on its own merit. With “The Unity of Heroes”, we have a tale that returns all the elements that made the “Once Upon a Time in China” series so popular but by doing so, invites comparison with the past.

Sunny Pang is a character actor. He is also an accomplished martial artist, action director, and fight choreographer. As a martial arts trainer, he led his team to a gold medal finish in 1995 in the Nam Hua Pai Free Sparring Competition in Singapore. The multi-talented YouTube star Rudy Mancuso is continuing his musical foray with "Mama" -- the third single from his forthcoming album, and the first song that he has released from the project without a collaborator. Previously, Mancuso teamed with girlfriend Maia Mitchell and noted writer/performer Poo Bear on singles "Magic" and "Black & White," respectively.

In "Mama," Mancuso reflects on life lessons learned as a result of succumbing to temptation. The music video is surreal and sad, with Mancuso dancing alongside a fleet of animal mascots who attempt to lure him toward the very vices that his mother warns against, like drinking and smoking. He also gets repeatedly slapped in the face in a bid to jar him out of these unhealthy patterns.

After appearing in a Rudy Mancuso sketch last week, pop megastar Justin Bieber is once again collaborating with digital creators in the Shots Studios family. Writer/performer Poo Bear and Bieber -- who is an investor in the photo app-turned-digital studio -- have tapped Shots creator Hannah Stocking to star in the lyric video for their new single, "Hard 2 Face Reality," which also features the rapper Jay Electronica.

"Hard 2 Face Reality" hails from Poo Bear’s forthcoming debut album, Bearthday Music. The multi-hyphenate, né Jason Boyd, is best known for penning the Bieber smashes "Where Are Ü Now" and "What Do You Mean?," and also guested on Mancuso's debut single, "Black & White." In the lyric video for "Hard 2 Face Reality," Stocking is cheated on by her boyfriend, comforted by two of her friends (played by fellow digital luminaries and Shots creators Lele Pons and Inanna Sarkis), and then finds new love.

YouTube multi-hyphenate Rudy Mancuso dropped his debut single, "Black & White," in October -- complete with a visually arresting music video that has amassed 7.3 million views.

For his second official single, "Magic," Mancuso is teaming up with his girlfriend, actress Maia Mitchell of The Fosters fame. Mancuso and Mitchell have collaborated on several covers and sketches for his channel before, though a December single called "Sirens" was removed following accusations that the duo had plagiarized a song by rock band Eisley. A member of the band noted on Instagram, however, that it had okayed Mancuso and Mitchell to use the track.
