Vinod Khanna had signed the film. That is when the film was titled "Agent Vinod" after him. Some undisclosed problems occured and Vinod left the film. Mahendra Sandhu was then signed and the title Agent Vinod was retained .
, Agent Vinod (1977) has Mahendra Sandhu playing Bond. One side villain character in the film is modelled on Odd Job from Gold Finger and the fight between Odd Job and Bond is replicated in the Hindi film. Another scene from Gold Finger is when early on, he kills a baddie thru electrocution and exclaims "Shocking". Mahendra Sandhu does the same scene in Agent Vinod with same dialogue. Only his Shocking sounds like Shawkiing!.
In 2012 film Agent Vinod ,Mahendra Sandhu was offered a character role due to his image of Agent Vinod.But he declined it as he was away from films.But in the film Saif Ali Khan introduces himself as Mahendra Sandhu to one of the person.
