Gestapo officer Herr Grosnitz has arrived Oflag 43 to clampdown on escapes after seventeen out of forty three have not been captured. Meanwhile a tunnel collapse has left one man injured giving Lt Anson a chance to escape.

Despite an injury to Anson, they head to their next destination. Leaving him hidden in a boat house the other men rendezvous at a cafe called "Grey Rabbits". After an unexpected SS raid, they escape but leave a coded message behind.
Gill, Miller and Anson head for the Northbank of the River Seine hoping to get to Spain. The group split up with Anson heading back to find Parks and the Resistance. They arrange to meet up on the Spanish border in three days.
Parkin is dead, Rondeur and Anson face a firing squad but Marie makes a dramatic rescue. The two men head for the rendezvous, at St Laurent, but Gill is missing. The Gestapo are back on their trail and the men discover Gill is the traitor.
Gill meets up with Anson and Miller unaware he is captured. Miller is the Gestapo agent and that the three will be allowed to escape and then shot on the border. Rondeur arranges an escape which wrong foots both Miller and Grosnitz.
