During Ishk Ishk Ishk, it was decided that in the Silver Jubilee year Of Navketan, in the year 1975, Dev Anand would invite his elder brother Chetan Anand to direct a film on the ocassion for the 25th year, silver jubilee year for Navketan. The film to be made was a big lavish costume drama staring Dev Anand and Hema Malini. But then it was decided that, the remake of Chetan Anand's Taxi Driver be remade as Janeman.
Jaaneman was one of the first sequel to be remade in Bollywood in year 1976.
In Jaaneman Dev Anand throughout the film Dev Anand wears the taxi driver uniform, baring the climax.
At that time Madan Mohan was the permanent music composer of Chetan Anand.films and at that time he was composing music for Saheb Bahadur, but for Jaaneman, Laxmikant-Pyarelal had composed the music.
The playback singers of Jaaneman were all the major playback singers of Indian Cinema. Mukesh, Manna Day, Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Hemlata all of then sang for Jaaneman.
