The reason the show was called CHIQUITITAS is because on it's first season thy only had girls...as you said, i don't think it was planned... the show became REALLY popular here in Argentina after it's first season, so they started adding lots of new characters...With the former "little girls" growing up and blossoming into beautiful teenagers, boys became necessary... Chiquititas was exported to many Middle East countries where it became hugely successful...In places like Russia and Israel they still show old seasons. It's producer, Cris Morena, is a TV magnate. Following all 7 seasons of Chiquititas she produced Rebelde Way, along with a new and completely different Chiquititas, only resembling it's predecessor in name. Both hit shows were also exported to foreign countries. Her next hit was Floricienta, a TV show based upon the Cinderella story. I dare say this was her best show. It was a total phenomenon here in Argentina, an even bigger one in Foreign countries, and this time not only did she export the program itself, but she also sold the concept.
