Kino Lorber was right to bring out Foxes (1980) in Blu-ray under their Kl Studio Classics series. The elegant re-issue seems aimed at convincing film snobs that this little gem from the last days of disco finally deserves their attention after a distance of 35 years, during which time it was either dismissed as another insignificant teen comedy of the ‘80s, or as a guilty pleasure. But longtime champions of the film, myself included, need no convincing. We owned the clamshell VHS, we owned the first-generation DVD, and now, if anything, I’d venture to say we feel vindicated that it now carries the stamp as a bonafide classic by a home video label as respected as Kino Lorber. Mena Suvari is The American actress. She has been followed by the word “American” in her work as an actress. She broke onto the scene in American Pie and followed it with American Virgin and American Beauty. Recently she appeared in the new hit series, American Horror Story as the Black Dahlia. This April, Suvari will add a second sequel to the American Pie franchise with American Reunion.

This weekend, Suvari, 32, did a very American thing and filed for divorce from her second husband of 18 months, 25-year old Simone Sestito, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split from the concert promoter. TMZ reported that Suvari listed November 1, 2011 as the date of separation the divorce papers and requested her legal name Mena Suvari-Sestito be changed back to Mena Suvari. The two were married back in 2010 in Vatican City. In 2005, Suvari ended her first marriage with cinematographer Robert Brinkmann.

I love America. July Fourth, freedom, apple pie, all those things. But (speaking of pie), I clearly don’t love America as much as Mena Suvari. As a friend of mine on Facebook astutely pointed out today, her guest appearance as the Black Dahlia on American Horror Story last night brings the grand total of “American” entries on her resume to six: American Pie, American Beauty, American Virgin, American Pie 2, American Horror Story, and American Reunion.

Twitter updates were booming last night, which should come as no surprise since most comic book creators are nocturnal. Brian Michael Bendis tweeted a micro-review of the Facebook movie script he's seen, and Rob Liefeld couldn't hold back his excitement coming out of a Deadpool meeting.

Meanwhile, on the East Coast, everyone in comics with a Twitter account seemed to be either out to greet British visitors Andy Diggle and Jock or tweeting their RSVP. Then there was Geoff Johns, who set up his own in-home Mame emulator-powered arcade cabinet. But "Donkey Kong Jr." would prove to be his downfall.

There were a lot of options this week for readers interested in comics with crossover appeal. Everything from adaptations of fan-favorite and cult-classic properties to the continuing adventures of popular superheroes with established big-screen presence. Here’s what looks good among the June 3 releases:

Top Of The Stack: “Batman And Robin” #1 (DC): If anything can wipe away the memory of Joel Schumacher’s unintentionally campy 1997 foray into the Bat-verse, it’s the superstar team of writer Grant Morrison and artist Frank Quitely. This is one of those rare occasions where I haven’t read the issue yet, but feel perfectly comfortable recommending it.

From “All-Star Superman” to “We3″ (one of my favorite stories put to page in the comics world), Morrison and Quitely have the magic touch that makes any book they collaborate on stand out from the rest. Can these perfect partners work that same magic with DC’s Dynamic Duo,...

We haven't done this before because the Scenes We Hate posts are so brand new, but Jessica's earlier Pretty in Pink rant inspired me to flip it back over and highlight a scene from the same movie that I absolutely 100% adore. In fact, I'd go so far as to say this is one of my favorite 80's movie scenes. Not only do I think Duckie is fantastic and one of the decade's great, tragic movie characters, but the song is a brilliant choice and Howard Deutch's direction (along with John Hughes' writing) just ties it all together into one delicious, love-sick knot.

Jessica said she always hated the ending to this film; she thought Duckie and Andie should've wound up together. Me? I kinda like this ending. It's real; it reminds me of the giant crushes I had on girls in high school. The girls who, no matter...

If you've seen Death at a Funeral, I'm sure you were thinking: Forget Ewen Bremner, Alan Tudyk, and the rest of them! I want an urbanized remake of Chris Rock! If you did, you should be overjoyed to learn that The Hollywood Reporter has posted that Rock is producing, starring, and co-writing (with Aeysha Carr) an "urban reworking" of the comedy. It's supposed to be "a hysterical, completely new reimagining" of the original, but while words like "hysterical" and "urban" are perfectly good for a film, I'm getting Guess Who twitches. But man, I'd love to be wrong.

Meanwhile, after taking an almost decade-long hiatus from the big screen, Variety reports that Lauren Hutton has signed on for David Duchovny's The Joneses, along with Glenne Headly and Gary Cole. The movie is just like you'd assume it to be -- what life is really like for "The Joneses" --...

Oh no! Not another teen movie! Yes my friends, it is inevitable. But hey, if you like that kind of movie you might want to give this one a shot because it’s not bad at all. I really expected a cheap, unsatisfying, and untalented piece of work even for its genre and what I got was an enjoyably funny, raunchy, and politically incorrect movie that is a smorgasbord of many other teen movies wrapped up into one simple package. This one reminded me of the Last American Virgin, Superbad, Eurotrip, Road Trip, and the all-time classics, the American Pie series. [...]...
