As with most animated shorts of the era, this cartoon was shown in cinemas as part of a program. Careful attention to background detail (home furnishings, landscaping, etc) was a hallmark of these productions.
The title is a pun on popular breakfast cereal "Grape Nuts" while the storyline mimics similar tales in "Aesop's Fables."
The crow resembles the Terrytown cartoon characters Heckle and Jeckle.
