Breakout true-crime anthology series Dirty John will be moving from Bravo to sister NBCUniversal network USA for its second season, expected to premiere in 2020.
Dirty John received a two-season straight-to-series order by Bravo in January 2018. With its first season, starring Connie Britton and Eric Bana, Dirty John became the highest-rated scripted series ever on the network, with ratings growing throughout its run.
A move to a bigger network with established scripted footprint is expected to help the series expand its reach similarly to the ratings bump RuPaul’s Drug Race got on the unscripted side when it moved from Logo to VH1.
At USA, Dirty John joins another crime anthology series, The Sinner, as well as off-network staple Law & Order: Svu. USA’s scripted slate also includes Mr. Robot, Queen of the South, Briarpatch, Treadstone, Dare Me, Brave New World, The Purge, Suits and spinoff Pearson.

Gibson and Vince Vaughn are a pair of out-of-control cops careering towards in oblivion in S Craig Zahler’s long but often-brilliant crime flick
Titles of films are not usually so conscientious in giving you an exact sensory impression of the forthcoming entertainment. This title pretty much lets you have it like the feelaround cinema once envisioned in Brave New World and Kentucky Fried Movie. You’re aware of concrete abrading skin – and maybe the calloused grip grabbing the shirt-collar at the back of your neck or the gun barrel jammed somewhere intimate. Maybe this was originally just a working title, something scribbled down as a temporary placeholder until everyone came to see how appropriate it was.

Alden Ehrenreich has been cast in a lead role of the planned series adaptation of Aldous Huxley’s “Brave New World,” Variety has confirmed.
“Brave New World” imagines a utopian society that has achieved peace and stability through the prohibition of monogamy, privacy, money, family, and history itself. As citizens of New London, Bernard Marx and Lenina Crowne have only ever known a rigid social order, a perfect pharmaceutical called Soma, and a culture of instant gratification and ubiquitous sex. Curious to explore life beyond the strictures of their society, the two New Worlders embark on a vacation to the Savage Lands, where they become embroiled in a harrowing and violent rebellion. Bernard and Lenina are rescued by John the Savage (Ehrenreich), who escapes with them back to New London.
John is further described as a subversive outsider who threatens to disrupt the stability of New London’s utopian society.

The third season follows Detective Harry Ambrose (Pullman) as he begins a routine investigation of a tragic car accident on the outskirts of Dorchester, in upstate New York. Ambrose uncovers a hidden crime that pulls him into the most dangerous and disturbing case of his career.
Bomer will play Jamie, an upstanding Dorchester resident and expectant father who looks to Ambrose for support in the wake of an accident. USA Network has given a straight-to-series order to Brave New World, based on the Aldous Huxley novel, from Universal Content Productions and Amblin Television. The series adaptation was written by David Wiener (Homecoming), with Grant Morrison (Happy!) and Brian Taylor.
Brave New World has had a long development history. Syfy and Amblin TV originally partnered to develop a scripted series based on Huxley’s classic in 2015. A year later, Morrison and Taylor were tapped to write the adaptation.
Speculation started last summer that Brave New World may be moving from Syfy to the larger-scale sibling USA Network with a straight-to-series order and a co-licensing deal with a digital platform to distribute it internationally. Comics legend Grant Morrison has inked a big deal with Universel Cable Productions this week to develop new content for the studio, according to Variety, and part of that deal includes bringing his iconic and subversive comic The Invisibles to TV.
Morrison is currently a producer on Happy! for Ucp, based on his own book with Darick Robertson, and he's made quite the success of it, which means The Invisibles could finally materialize on the small screen. The comic is set in 2020, which'll make the new TV project pretty damn timely, as we're unlikely to see it premiere until then.

Universal Cable Productions has inked a deal with New York Times bestselling author Grant Morrison, a signature name in the American comic book scene since the 1980s and a writer with a flair for supernatural and sci-fi material that veers into surreal, absurdist and psychedelic territories.

Production is already underway on Season 2 of Happy! — the subversive Syfy series that adapts the namesake Image Comics series launched n 2012 by Morrison and artist Derick Robertson. The show stars Christopher Meloni (Law & Order: Svu) in the role of Nick Sax, a former corrupt cop living a bleak, decadent life as a hit man — until he meets a tiny, blue winged-horse named Happy (voiced by Patton Oswalt) The insufferably optimistic and hovering Happy becomes Sax’s companion but remains invisible to others.

There may be a long wait in store for Riverdale Season 3, and we have our first look at Kj Apa as he prepares to return to filming as Archie Andrews.
The picture shows Apa with a whole lot of abs, clearly right after a boxing session as he gets in shape for Riverdale Season 3.
Have a look below.
"Look who’s back in red and fighting shape for season 3 of #Riverdale. We start Friday. So Excited," Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre Sacasa captioned the image which he shared earlier this week.
The wording of the statement could allude to Archie seeking revenge on Hiram Lodge in the upcoming episodes. Riverdale Season 2 concluded with Archie getting arrested for murder.

Let me state it clearly now so it doesn't come as a surprise: This is not a picture, it is a disgrace.
The script is a rickety hodge-podge of Ray Bradbury’s novel, the Truffaut adaptation, Huxley's "Brave New World", Orwell's ""1984 and, sadly, just in case they weren’t laying it thick enough and we needed an inception level of dystopia, Equilibrium. All the tropes, all the time, squared.
It's such a mess I don't even know where to begin.

Syfy has made its first pilot order off its 2018 development slate with Resident Alien, a drama based on the Dark Horse comics series by Peter Horgan and Steve Parkhouse, from Universal Cable Productions, Dark Horse Entertainment and Amblin TV.
Resident Alien is described as a dark, twisted and comedic fish-out-of-water story. Adapted for television by Chris Sheridan (Family Guy), it follows a crash-landed alien named Harry who, after taking on the identity of a small-town Colorado doctor, slowly begins to wrestle with the moral dilemma of his secret mission on Earth — ultimately asking the question, “Are human beings worth saving?”
Sheridan will executive produce with Dark Horse Entertainment’s Mike Richardson (The Mask) and Keith Goldberg (The Legend of Tarzan), along with Justin Falvey (The Americans) and Darryl Frank (The Americans) of Amblin TV. Universal Cable Productions is producing as part of its first-look deal with Dark Horse Entertainment to...

Compulsion Games is asking Australian backers to give them some time to work through issues raised when the Australian Classification Board denied classification of their upcoming Kickstarter-funded title, “We Happy Few.”
According to Australia’s Classification Act of 1995, “Every film and computer game has to be classified before it can be legally made available to the public.” By not rating “We Happy Few,” the Classification Board has effectively banned the sale of the upcoming title in Australia. The studio plans to appeal the decision, expressing their shared frustration with Australian backers.
“We Happy Few” is a first-person game in which players must escape the demented citizens of Wellington Wells, a dystopian city modeled after 1964 London. Citizens are forced to take Joy — “happy pills” to keep them docile and complacent. Players will need to blend in, hunt for supplies, and craft weapons to make it out of the city alive.

(Spoilers alert: Please do not read ahead unless you’ve watched the “Riverdale” Season 2 finale, “Brave New World”)
The “Riverdale” Season 2 finale answered loose ends from the penultimate episode, in which we found out that the Black Hood has been Betty’s dad this whole time, and set up what’s sure to be an equally insane Season 3.
First off, Jughead is alive (!) and F.P. is trying to convince him they need to move to Toledo because the Ghoulies took out all the Serpents. But Jug later finds out that the Serpents are taking refuge at the Whyte Worm, which Hiram Lodge is trying to buy — it’s the last property he needs on the Southside for a full takeover.
But Ronnie has another idea. With the help of (now former Mayor) Sierra McCoy, she strong-arms her dad to give her the million dollars she received in ransom money from Nick’s parents,...

These are some of the increasingly plausible bleak futures Hollywood has envisioned for us in dystopian movies and TV.
In the 1930s, editor and social critic H. L. Mencken wrote, “All government, of course, is against liberty.” Mencken also wrote, “The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.” Given the results of the recent presidential election, you can grab pretty much anything Mencken wrote 80 years ago, and it would still seem curiously apt today, maybe even more than it did then.
From the moment humans decided to stop all that tiresome hunting and gathering, opting instead to settle down and get civilized, there’s always been a nagging fear. When you agree to live in a community with other people, you are...

Knowing that Heroes Reborn is unlikely to return, fingers crossed that next week's finale resolves its many dangling threads...
This review contains spoilers.
1.12 Company Woman
The news spilling out of NBC this week that Heroes Reborn is highly unlikely to return for a second season won’t come as a big shock to many. Amusing as it is to imagine Heroes head-honcho Tim Kring going full-on Partridge and telling the boss of NBC to “give me a second series, you shit”, the truth is that even before the show aired last September, the general feeling was that this would be a one-time deal. Quite frankly, it was a miracle that the project even got commissioned in the first place given the state Heroes was in when it ended its initial four season run. Viewers might not be clamouring for a second season then but what they undoubtedly...

Heroes Reborn has improved since its opening double-bill with this briskly paced impressive third episode...
This review contains spoilers.
1.3 Under The Mask
Last week’s Heroes Reborn double bill was, without question, a solid opening but was obliged to carry the weight of character introductions and the standard start-of-season admin duties. With that out of the way, Under The Mask proves to be an even more impressive venture and a thoroughly entertaining episode reminiscent of the character-driven, interlacing story that originally attracted many fans to Heroes.
Any concerns over how the many plotlines kicked into motion last week could be sufficiently covered within the 13-episode run are quickly put to bed thanks to the brisk pace evident in episode three. An awful lot of ground is covered for all of our primary characters but at no point do proceedings feel rushed and whereas episodes one and two were cluttered at times,...

(Spoiler alert: Do not read on if you have not yet seen the two-part season finale of TNT's “Dallas” entitled “Endgame” and “Brave New World.”) “I've done some soul searching and I've finally figured out the answer,” John Ross (played by Josh Henderson) told Bobby (Patrick Duffy) after his latest move. “I am not just like my father. I'm worse.” How much worse than Larry Hagman‘s J.R. Ewing quickly became apparent, though it wasn't immediately clear how involved John Ross was in what came next. In a show that's made headlines for major character deaths, “Dallas” may have delivered yet another epic.

"Fringe" finally returns tonight (Fri., Sept. 28 at 9 p.m. Et on Fox), and though fans only have 13 episodes to savor before Fringe Division and all their various iterations fade out of our timeline for good, audiences can't wait to see how the cast and creative team wrap up this epic sci-fi story.
It's been a long summer, and though there have been teasers from Comic-Con and the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour to whet Season 5 appetites, HuffPost TV figured you might need a refresher about where "Fringe" left off, as well as a preview of where the show is heading.
Having seen the season premiere, HuffPost TV can happily report that it's as poignant, gripping and thrilling as ever, blending moments of humor and unexpected whimsy with emotionally raw performances, and once again illustrating that Emmy voters were totally blind for failing to recognize the majesty of John Noble...

It’s that time of year… network shows are going off the air (some for good) and the cable summer season is about to premiere. We decided to take a look at all of the season finales that have aired thus far and here are more of our staff picks for the best and the worst for the 2011-2012 season. Here are picks made by BuzzFocus Associate Editor-Community Manager Ernie Estrella:
(Spoilers ahead for anyone who hasn’t seen these season finales!)
Best: Don’t Trust The B—- in Apartment 23
Wanna know why this show worked and 2 Broke Girls didn’t? We had rudeness from Chloe (Krystin Ritter) and the corruption and naïveté of June (Dreama Walker) is plenty fun, but the supporting characters prove to be something more than what they are on the surface. James Van Der Beek destroys playing a caricature of himself and as Chloe’s catty Bff,...

“Brave New World, Part 2” Air Date: 5/11/12
If you haven’t watched last week’s Fringe, “Brave New World: Part One,” then go do so now, unless you want Mega Spoilers. However, I promise not to ruin any of the massive twists and turns of this week’s “Brave New World: Part Two,” so you’re safe to sit back, grab some red licorice, and ruminate with me about this divided, mixed, and ultimately classic season of Fringe.
Last week, Walter’s convictions that William Bell (the venerable Leonard Nimoy) was alive and behind David Robert Jones’ machinations turned out to be true. Unfortunately, his mission led to the shot heard round both universes, with Astrid crumpling to the ground from a bullet wound. The stunned silence and emotional punch which that moment produced in me caused me to leave common sense behind. Even though dead doesn’t...

Genetically mutated dinosaurs? A Cortexiphan baby? Leonard Nimoy? Brain-laced lemon cake?
You can't say there wasn't a lot going on in the May 11 "Fringe" finale. But weirdly enough, that's always been part of the problem with this unlikely survivor, which has been renewed for a fifth and final season.
The Fox show is always trying to balance "stuff" -- the complex mythology that has grown up around the Observers, Olivia Dunham, Walter Bishop, his old friend William Bell, his son Peter and a number of alternate worlds and scenarios -- with the ultimate emotional impact of the stories it tells.
It's not an easy balance to strike, and Season 4 was something of an object lesson in the perils of ideas that seem cool on paper, but can lessen the cumulative...

This week, on Fringe: Bell monologues, Walter shoots, and Olivia smiles
It’s been a mixed season for Fringe. After last year’s shocking cliffhanger, much of the beginning of season four dealt with the fallout of Peter’s deletion. 22 episodes later, we’re in much the same place as we were then. Peter and Olivia are together and happy, Walter is comparatively well-adjusted, thanks to Peter’s influence, and mad scientists keep insisting on cropping up to make trouble. David Robert Jones filled this role well, but he’s already been dealt with, so we’re back to Belly as the mysterious villain. Perhaps the most significant change this season was the addition of Lincoln Lee as a permanent fixture in both Universes.

The first part of Fringe’s Season 4 finale, “Brave New World,” set the stage for the end to one of the craziest seasons of science fiction television I have ever seen. Not only did Leonard Nimoy come out of retirement to reprise his role as William Bell, but it became quite clear he has been the bad guy all along, pulling the strings from behind the scenes and directing the more obviously villainous David Robert Jones. Going into the second part of “Brave New World,” we have a lot of questions that need to be answered and, thankfully, Fox gave us a couple of videos that should calm our nerves that most answers will be revealed.

"Fringe" has been incredibly exciting this season, but no episode hit a home run the way the first part of the season finale "Brave New World" did. David Robert Jones (Jared Harris) is trying to merge the universes to create a new one that he controls. Who's behind it? William Bell (Leonard Nimoy), who isn't in amber after all.
A shorter version of the movie-style trailer was released before Part One, but now we have the full version. After the moment Astrid (Jaiska Nicole) is shot, we see exactly what Bell is trying to do. It's terrifying. And what about Olivia (Anna Torv)? Will she make it, despite what the Other saw?
Check out the full trailer below and let us know what you think. Thank goodness we have another season! There is no way this could have been wrapped up in one more night! "Fringe" fans, you just won TV!

Warning, Fringe fans: the following trailer for this Friday's season four finale has only been approved for those few whom William Bell has chosen. View at your own risk.
Following an incredible opening hour of this Fringe event, the Fox series will wrap up with "Brave New World Part 2," an appropriate title, given the plans a returning Bell has in mind.
"If we are capable of being gods, then it is our destiny to do so," he tells John Noble's confused, angry, desperate Walter in the extended preview below.
Look for resurrection, destruction, creation and... dinosaurs to all be featured on the finale. Get ridiculously excited for it now:

This week, on Fringe: Walter bakes, Olivia and Astrid are fighters, and Belly likes almonds
Much of this season has centered around the reemergence of David Robert Jones. He’s been a fantastic villain, keeping a few steps ahead of the Fringe team by shrouding his larger agenda in mystery. Jared Harris has been a blast in the role, dripping with malevolent glee, chewing the scenery when appropriate, and dialing down the camp and up the intensity when his scenes call for it. This week, we bid Jones a fond farewell as he once again goes out by Peter’s hand, with an assist from his own technology (losing half his face in the process). As ever, Harris gives his scenes his all,...

Well now. Was that the shortest hour of television in the history of television or did I somehow miss half of "Brave New World, Part 1?"
The last few episodes have all been quite similar in that respect. Before I have time to wrap my head around the enormity of what's happening, the credits roll! That's an incredible combination of my somewhat thick skull and the extraordinary craft that goes into making an episode of Fringe.
We were duped!
I have to give credit to producers who can hold a press conference and successfully retain the big secrets. As a writer, I've come to trust Joel Wyman and Jeff Pinkner when they say something, so I didn't think twice during a recent Fringe interview when they said they had so far been unsuccessful in begging Leonard Nimoy to return to acting and had resorted to planting signs in his yard. A slight exaggeration,...
