Hugh Herbert's brother-in-law, Charles Williams, has wracked up Herbert's car, so Herbert borrows Williams'.... which has no brakes. After a series of accidents, he is told by his boss, Vernon Dent, to go sign up Dick Wessell, the Strongest Man In The World. However, while waiting for Wessell at the man's apartment, Herbert finds Williams and mother-in-law Kitty McHugh have dragged his wife to catch Herbert cheating on her.
Thanks to some canny direction of Hugh McCollum, the usual loud and obnoxious Columbia gags are used to some novel effect, and Herbert gets to apply his signature comic tics.
