Recent hot cinema topics such as the portrayal of the Mandarin character in Shane Black’s Iron Man 3 and speculations about what classic Star Trek villain Benedict Cumberbatch’s character in J.J Abrams’ Star Trek: Into Darkness was modeled after leading up to the film’s release, among others, underline the importance of great villains in genre cinema.
Creating a great cinematic villain is a difficult goal that makes for an incredibly rewarding and memorable viewer experience when it is achieved.
We’ll now take a look at the greatest film villains. Other writing on this subject tends to be a bit unfocused, as “greatest villain” articles tend to mix live-action human villains with animated characters and even animals. Many of these articles also lack a cohesive quality as they attempt to cover too much ground at once by spanning all of film history.

Previously on Chicago Fire, Dawson’s big brother started to resemble a Cullen before he got himself shot, Clarice gave birth to a baby boy and their first baby present was a petition for custody from Clarice’s husband. Dude, next time, stick to the registry. Severide tried to contact Renee the First and Casey’s mom has got it going on but her parole is really cramping her dating style.
We pick up where we left off last episode with Dawson weeping over her brother who has been shot in the hospital parking lot. She spots an ambulance, puts on her speedy sneakers, and jumps in front of it. Ladies, for the love of my heart health, one of you already got hit by a truck, can we not jump in front of another? Thanks. They help her get Antonio into the hospital. For the first...

CBS’ Person of Interest (airing Thursdays at 9/8c) opened Season 2 by dropping quite a provocative bit of intel, revealing how Reese will receive numbers from and communicate with The Machine for however long Mr. Finch is held captive by Root. But is that really how The Machine works? What will it take to free Finch? And is the new team member a keeper? At a premiere event for the hit drama, TVLine asked showrunners Jonah Nolan and Greg Plageman and cast members Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson about those hot topics and more.

"Silent Partner" finally brought the murder case of Turrell Baylor to a close. It should come as no surprise to any of us that it was members of his own gang who killed him, and would have done so whether Brenda dropped him into his own neighborhood or not.
The lawsuit against Brenda also wrapped up, wonder of wonders, as Peter Goldman was using unscrupulous methods to recruit new members for his case, and, in the process, lied while being interrogated. He had the names of five witnesses to Baylor's murder, but didn't give them up. Litigation dropped.
There were, however, many downsides to this mid-season (seventh season? I'm still not sure how they are counting these episodes) finale. The end of the case was rather anti-climactic. Unfortunately for Mr. Baylor, it never really mattered who killed him. The legal system created an entire production around a gang death that...

Jason George is a busy man.
The actor will reprise his role as a love interest for Bailey on this Thursday's Grey's Anatomy, and then will head over to TNT in December for a guest-starring gig on The Closer.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the former Off the Map actor will appear in that drama's winter finale as Marvin Evans, a businessman with a connection to the neighborhood where Turell Baylor was killed last season. On the December 26 installment, “Silent Partner,” look for Kyra Sedgwick's Brenda to seek assistance from Evans this character.
The Closer will then wrap up its run in the summer of 2012 before making way for its spinoff, Major Crimes.

TNT’s The Closer continues to book new faces for its final season. EW has exclusively learned that Sunset Beach and Eve alum Jason George will guest star in the show’s winter finale, which is slated to air Dec. 26. This comes shortly after the news that Fred Willard will appear in the show’s 100th episode on Dec. 5, and Elizabeth Perkins made a deal to guest star in the show’s Dec. 19 episode.
George will play Marvin Evans, a successful businessman with old ties to the neighborhood where Turell Baylor was brutally murdered last season, in the episode titled “Silent Partner.

With hit original shows like White Collar entering its third season, Burn Notice set to begin its fifth and Psych its sixth, the USA Network continues to develop original content. 14 new shows are in the works including seven hour-long dramas, five half-hour comedies, a limited series and a talk show.
Yesterday during their upfront presentation in New York, USA co-presidents Jeff Wachtel and Chris McCumber laid out an aggressive plan to add half-hour comedies by 2013 when they begin to air reruns of recent acquisition Modern Family. Some of the more intriguing comedies on the slate are On We Go which is produced by and will star Nathan Lane, and Big in Japan in which former American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi is a consulting producer.
It’s clear that USA is trying to branch out from their current lineup that has a universal formula and feel that has carved out a successful brand.
