Pentti Salonen, an absent minded weather professor and his wife Elina Salonen have been married for five years. They call an ex-boxer Teemu Järvinen and his wife Ann-Mari to celebrate. While Ann-Mari gives a toast it brings them back a few years. Both of the ladies were singles then and having quite a few romances. And then we see how Pentti and Elina met in that summer.Except that memory is a tricky thing and Elina seems not to be reminiscing the man she married...Vihdoinkin Hääyö is a Finnish comedy from 1957.It's directed by Aarne Tarkas. It's not a masterpiece but does offer a lot of nostalgia. It's great to look at these people spending their summer. And the actors portraying these people are fantastic.Pentti Siimes plays Pentti and Heidi Krohn is Elina.Marjatta Kallio is Ann-Mari Järvinen. And then there's Åke Lindman as her husband.Today we heard a sad news that Åke Lindman is dead at the age of 81.This actor/director was in a huge number of movies. In the 50's he was often the villain and he got tired of that because people were scared of him in the streets.I read this great man's autobiography around his last birthday (January 11th).He met all these famous movie people abroad. He worked with Jerry Lewis in The Day the Clown Cried, the film that sadly got never published. He met Alfred Hitchcock in 1978.Åke was supposed to look at filming locations in Finland since the master of suspense was planning to shoot his film called The Short Night there.Unfortunately the master was too old and the film never got made. But you can see Åke in some Hollywood productions that did get made.We shall miss this man a lot.You shall try and catch Åke and all these other superb people in these old movies.
