According to IMDB postings the exact same plot, with the same director writer, and most of the same actors as the 1988 film "Rock and the Alien". The only difference I can see is the runtime. The '88 version is.two minutes shorter than this release.
I haven't seen the earlier movie, so without that knowledge I can't make an honest comparison, so I'll stick to the topic at hand which is Space Freaks from Planet Mutoid.
.....it's got all the charisma of a visit to the toilet after a night of binge drinking.
The only positive I could find was that the plot somewhat mirrors "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" which was.released a year after "Rock and the Alien", but the concept of writing a song to bring peace and harmony is the common thread.
So much for the good.....are you ready for the bad?
They have a singer that does a bad impression of Springsteen, or Lou Reed. Bad run-of-the-mill music.
If this IS a remake, or re-release, without seeing the earlier version, I think I may not want to.
