First of six 3D movies from producer Earl Owensby made during the early to mid-1980s. This 3D picture had a much wider theatrical release in cinemas compared to the later ones which included 'Hot Heir' (1984), 'Chain Gang' (1984), 'Hyperspace' (1984), 'Hit the Road Running' (1987) and 'Tales of the Third Dimension' (1984).
The movie was part of a cycle of movie monster and animal attack films which had been popularized by 'Jaws' (1975) and later 'Alien (1979). 'Rottweiler' 3-D (aka 'Dogs of Hell) (1983) was actually released in the same year as Jaws 3-D (1983). Other pictures in the cycle included 'Willard' (1971), 'Frogs' (1972), 'Grizzly' (1976), 'Squirm' (1976), 'Prophecy' (1979) and 'Empire of the Ants' (1977).
The period of principal photography on this picture was a shoot of about two months shot during the Fall and Summer seasons in 1981.
The movie was part of an early-mid 1980s cycle of 3-D movies. The other films were Starchaser: The Legend of Orin (1985), Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn (1983), Jaws 3-D (1983), Parasite (1982), Amityville 3-D (1983), The Man Who Wasn't There (1983), Silent Madness (1984), Comin' at Ya! (1981), Friday the 13th: Part 3 (1982), Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone (1983), and Treasure of the Four Crowns (1983) (Treasure of the Four Crowns).
The 3D format used to film this movie in 3D according to the opening credits was Future Dimensions. The billing states: ''Filmed in Future Dimensions 3-D. Lenses designed by Chris Condon''.
