Almost Anything Goes

I approve of the late Mike Vraney's approach at Something Weird Video: he favored randomness and like the legendary Henri Langlois of the Cinematheque Francaise tried not to play favorites. ALMOST ANYTHING GOES is a nothing porn film that he preserved ingloriously from a print left over at the Dragon Art Theatre.

Picture opens on a group of swingers, including busy Jesse Adams and Mike Ranger. Folks draw cards and the lowest becomes a slave to everyone in the group. Julie is reluctant to play so of course she gets the low card. Ranger tries her out first, in a surprisingly sensual scene for such a low-rent movie.

The others have an orgy while watching the duo, and Julie cries out with her hands tied (filmmakers can mark: Check! to the bondage genre).

Group sex involving Julie begins with mass fondling, and lesbian sex naturally follows. Later a girl deep throats Jesse in impressive manner and Julie does a slave dance.

Not much meat on these porno bones, but 40 years later pointless new junk just like this attracts an audience and even gets critical industry praise. No wonder serious fans of erotica have given up on this peculiarly stilted industry, which despite junk like ALMOST ANYTHING GOES was on the brink of artistic flowering back when this movie was made.
