George Lucas commissioned this short film to accompany the release of Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980).
On 12th May 2015, Black Angel was made available on YouTube with an exclusive introduction from director Roger Christian.
After its run in theaters, the original film prints were lost. They were found in 2012, following the collapse of UK studio Rank, which had stored the prints along with other film negatives in WWII bunkers.
"Black Angel" was also released in 4:3 ratio prints and originally had a U certificate rating in Britain.
Yvonne Finlayson's maiden name was Cameron. She had a role as an extra in a film during her teens but does not know which film it was.
