I will always remind and watch this film again for the Paul Meurisse's performance, which looks very like a Columbo's character. Something is wrong and funny in this cop role. I nearly only focus on him, more than on Helmut Berger. Look out how Paul Meurisse walks, how he talks, how he is dressed, like a scarecrow.... Helmut Berger is just bland, not concerned by his character. I am not surprised by this lame Sergio Gobbi's movie. Only a few of Gobbi's stuff is really good anyway, including the most memorable : LE TEMPS DES LOUPS. For the rest, including this one, it's only acceptable. So, to summarize, don't miss this one ONLY for Paul Meurisse. The plot looks like a James Hadley Chase's book adaptation. Wealthy people and greedy opponents, femme fatale - Françoise Fabian.
