The Mandalorian has given Katee Sackhoff, who plays Bo-Katan Kryze on the Star Wars series, perhaps her most popular role. But Sackhoff very nearly didn’t pursue acting at all. In fact, she had a very different career plan until fate intervened. Here’s how Sackhoff decided to become an actor, finding herself on a collision course with Hollywood in the late ’90s.

From 2004 to 2009, Sackhoff played fan-favorite character Starbuck on the rebooted Battlestar Galactica. That Syfy established her as a major name on television, particularly in the sci-fi space. And over the next decade or so, Sackhoff would become a TV mainstay with multiple guest appearances on shows such as Nip/Tuck, 24, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and The Flash.

The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin, a bounty hunter who creates an unexpected bond with a baby alien named Grogu (formerly known as “Baby Yoda”). But the series has expanded a lot since that fairly straightforward premise, bringing in TV veterans like Katee Sackhoff. But how much is the actor who plays Bo-Katan Kryze actually worth? Let’s find out.
Katee Sackhoff had humble beginnings before her acting career
These days, Sackhoff might be making waves in the “galaxy far, far away.” But she wasn’t always such a fan-favorite star. In fact, as she told fans during a 2020 live Q&a, her entire household relied on her mother’s modest income when Sackhoff was a child.
“I absolutely know what it looks like to stick with something because of finances. My mom was a teacher. She made, with a Master’s degree, $30,000 a year. She taught for 34 years,...

Few people can sell a line like ‘You know the dangers of diabetic kitoacidosis’ as well as Will Ferrell – add enormous orchestration, endless cellphone failure and a sinister pregnant hottie and you’ve the mother of all trash movie satires
Coming three years after Casa de mi Padre and a week before The Spoils Before Dying, A Dangerous Adoption suggests that Will Ferrell and his sometime partner in crime Kristen Wiig are determined to spoof every last TV genre they can lay their hands on. Ferrell’s Casa De Mi Padre took the Latin American telenovela to the woodshed, while The Spoils of Babylon (The Spoils Before Dying being a sequel) went toe-to-toe with big-budget epic miniseries of the 1970s and 80s like The Thornbirds and oligarchic oilpatch melodramas like Dallas. A Dangerous Adoption is an altogether different bird: a satire of Lifetime Channel TV movies.
