One of the more obscure Adult Cinema rediscoveries I've encountered lately is this Sin City DVD (from 2002) of a very early release from the since-defunct label.
Christina Angel stars as the young sister of prostitute Jeanna Fine, who wants to join sis in the business but is thwarted by the protective Fine. For current audiences Angel is amazing to watch because she is a porno lookalike for the talented mainstream actress of today from England, "Gone Girl" herself: Rosamund Pike.
Of course, before the crisp (only 71 minutes long) feature is over Angel has become a working girl, but the portrait of prostitution in a brothel presented here is delightfully matter-of-fact. We don't get the usual proselytizing about how wonderful (lucrative, get to see the world, paid for sex one enjoys anyway, etc., etc.) the sex worker life is nor do we get a tawdry, cautionary tale. Directors Paula Emerson and Mr. Jane Waters instead adopt a refreshing matter-of-fact approach.
Fine is terrific as usual and the supporting femme cast of Rebecca Lord, Kristina West and especially busty & tall Laura Palmer is extremely alluring. The pornographers keep things simple and direct, and the movie holds up extremely well over 25 years later as a result.
Same director team plus five cast members also made (perhaps back-to-back) "Angel Baby", with Angel starring opposite Jeanna Fine as sisters who are prostitutes.
