Back in July, Apple TV+ unveiled a teaser trailer for season 2 of their psychological thriller series Severance, which is set to drop its first episode on Friday, January 17, 2025. One episode will follow every Friday through March 21. And if that July teaser trailer didn’t provide enough of a tease for your liking, here’s some good news: a new teaser trailer has made its way online and can now be viewed in the embed above!
Severance is created and written by Dan Erickson, with Ben Stiller serving as director and executive producer. In a statement when season 2 first went into production, Stiller said, “We are thrilled and delighted to be back on set for the exciting second chapter of Severance. Though we don’t know how long we’ve been gone or who we are outside, we are told people enjoy the show and we couldn’t be happier. Praise Kier!

Quentin Tarantino‘s 1994 sophomore feature Pulp Fiction wasn’t just a major break out hit. It changed the face of cinema in the 1990s, both by helping bring attention to indie and foreign films, and by inspiring a host imitators. When audiences lined up to watch Tarantino’s bloody, whip-smart movie, studios rushed to fill theaters and video stores with more stories about loquacious hitmen, monologuing bank robbers, and foul-mouthed gun molls.
In most cases, these knockoffs provided cheap thrills, heavy on the violence and pop-cultural references but low on Tarantino’s sense of composition and ear for unique dialogue. In the best cases, Pulp Fiction‘s success made way for other great movies to get made, oddball films ignored by the studios until Tarantino convinced them that they could make money.
Here are the fifteen best Pulp Fiction influenced movies of the 1990s, those that stand on their own...

Copland was supposed to be Sylvester Stallone’s comeback movie. Despite earning decent box office and generating Sly’s best reviews in decades, it seemed to be the final nail in his coffin as a leading man, and I don’t understand why. Before Copland, Stallone was headlining huge action movies like Daylight and Judge Dredd, and while they underperformed domestically and overseas, they were still big. One would think that Stallone would have been given an old-school action film to revive his career, but all of a sudden, he was slotted into cheap movies, such as the slasher thriller D-tox, which is also called Eye See You. That movie was so bad that it went direct-to-video, which pretty much meant the end of Stallone’s career for half a dozen years until he managed a major comeback with Rocky Balboa. It would get pretty dire for Sly, but Warner Bros...

Hulu is out with its list of new and expiring content for the month of September, and what better way to beat the back-to-school blues than with a whole bunch of binge-watching.
Among the new goodies coming next month is the 12th episode and season finale of horror anthology series “Into the Dark.” Out Sept. 6, the finale is called “Pure,” and is described as a female coming-of-age horror story in which a group of teenage girls perform a secret ritual at a “Purity Retreat.” When one of them begins to see a “supernatural entity,” a scary question is posed: “What is more dangerous: the demon they’ve unleashed, or the pressure to conform to their fathers’ expectations?” Scary indeed!
The Hulu original documentary “Untouchable” will be released on Sept. 2, described as “the inside story of the meteoric rise and shocking fall of movie titan Harvey Weinstein.” Directed by Ursula Macfarlane,...

The Polaris Society is set to free their earthly bodies and travel the stars. Their leader, Elyon, promises eternity and all everyone has to do is die. Cult members, Spencer and Ursa are having none of that and go on the run. Elyon is going to save their souls, even if he has to kill them.
2020: Doomsday sets the right tone from the first second we’re exposed to grainy, Super8 style footage that can’t help but be eerie as Hell. Whatever we’re forced to watch, with the adults and children with their faces whited out and the strange jerky motion, you get the feeling we’re about to watch something like The Strangers meets a very well done Creepypasta. Unfortunately, it isn’t very good.

“Criminal Activities” is yet another one of those “Clueless regular folks who get into deep criminal shit struggle to come out of the situation alive” dark comedies that were very popular during the post-Tarantino late '90s. Examples like “Suicide Kings” and “Very Bad Things” are just two titles that come to mind after a maximum of five seconds of brainstorming. Right down to its generic title, “Criminal Activities” doesn’t add anything new to the formula, and you can probably predict every single one of its story beats, including the wholly unnecessary twist ending, but I had fun with it nevertheless. This gruesome dark comedy is the feature directorial debut of Jackie Earl Haley, veteran portrayer of some of the creepiest characters from Hollywood’s last decade. Robert Lowell, the American poet who died in 1977, wrote the screenplay decades ago, and Haley updated it and changed the location from Detroit to Cleveland,...

Subliminal Criminal: Haley’s Debut Feloniously Familiar
There’s a certain amount of smarmy appeal to justify Jackie Earle Haley’s attraction to taking on Criminal Activities, the actor’s first stint as director. Updating a script written by Robert Lowell (a man who has been deceased since 1977), Haley updates the action to modern day Cleveland, but this mob affiliated kidnap caper feels exactly like direct-to-video fodder from the mid to late 90’s modeling snappy, impressionistic dialogue around loopy bits of violence and pronounced plot twists, a common template following the success of Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction (1994). An intriguing ensemble cast heightens a certain interest in the film’s rudimentary wiles, but exaggerated characterizations distract from an inevitable plot twist only unexpected because it’s not particularly notable.

When Pulp Fiction opened in theaters 20 years ago today, the mainstream moviegoing audience was introduced to a dynamic new Hollywood talent. Quentin Tarantino was a 31-year-old hipster whose formal film education never rose much higher than working as a clerk in a Manhattan Beach video store. A walking encyclopedia of film history who fetishized some of the more obscure genres, Tarantino had a gift for dialog and his own visual toolbox that expanded the language of cinematic storytelling. Pulp Fiction was the culmination of a two-year stretch where the director went from Nobody to Wunderkind, beginning with the Sundance premiere...

I didn’t know Christopher Walken had danced in so many movies but it’s a good thing he has otherwise we wouldn’t have this great supercut to show you. He had the moves in Fatboy Slim’s Weapon of Choice video [watch it here] but put them all together with his movies and it’s something special.
Fyi: Walken initially trained as a musical theater dancer at the Washington Dance Studio.

It’s been two decades since Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction crashed the zeitgeist and sent screenwriters everywhere rushing to their keyboards to create quirky criminals with the gift of gab. The best ones (In Bruges, Suicide Kings, Go) quickly form their own identity, but far too many seem content trying to mash together dark comedy and sharp violence and then calling it a day. Barely a month goes by without some new Tarantino-esque crime thriller hitting screens, and while it’s slowed down a bit recently the flow hasn’t stopped. Exhibit C for 2014… The Bag Man. Jack (John Cusack) is hired by a crime boss named Dragna (Robert De Niro) to acquire a particular bag and then wait at a motel for pick-up and payoff. The most important part of the task? Do not, under any circumstances, look in the bag. Jack struggles to resist the urge, but the waiting game is complicated by a...

On ABC's Wednesday sitcom "Suburgatory," which launched a new season in January, Jeremy Sisto plays George Altman, an architect and single father of a teen daughter (Jane Levy) who moves to the suburbs to give her a better life. He discovers life there is different, but whether it's better is a work in progress.
In real life, Sisto is a 39-year-old father of two: daughter Charlie and baby son Bastian. He got married to wife Addie a few months after his daughter was born, but Sisto has no regrets about taking the plunge.
"I love my family," he tells Zap2it. "I have a great wife. It took me a while to figure that out and commit, but now I'm really happy I did. She's a human being, and we're committed to each other. It's a nice thing. The kids are just amazing. It's a different level."

Where others may diagnose death for a failed film, a certain cinematic surgeon endeavors to breathe new life into moribund movies through extreme and invasive procedures. Whether it be rescuing invaluable elements from train wrecks for transplant, identifying cause of symptoms or resurrecting doomed patients with wholesale rewrites, Cinematic Surgery aims to show that even the most tragic or insolvable cases can be saved in the operating/editing room.
Such is the current culture in the filmmaking world that the very notion of suggesting ‘remake’ is considered sacrilege, a soul selling throw down to the cynical moneymakers bleeding dry a stable of beloved movies of the past in pursuit of sales through nostalgia and association, all to the detriment of goodwill and creativity. But the problem isn’t in the concept, it’s in the choices.

Casting announcements are rolling out for "Dexter's" eighth season, which returns in just a few short months since it is now moving away from its normal fall schedule slot.
Charlotte Rampling was announced as a neuro-psychiatrist specializing in child psychopaths and now Sean Patrick Flanery has joined the cast as well. Deadline reports that Flanery will be playing Jacob Elroy, "the ex-cop owner of a private investigation company in Miami."
Flanery is perhaps best known as Connor MacManus in "The Boondock Saints." He can also be seen as the title character on "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles" and in the movie "Suicide Kings."
There is no word as to exactly how Rampling or Flanery's characters will fit into the Season 8 storyline. Any theories?
"Dexter" will return early this year, on Sunday, July 30, being used as a lead-in to new Showtime drama "Ray Donovan."...

Johnny Galecki is a young man who knew he was destined to be an actor as early as age four. Stan Lee has been an exceptionally popular guy since Comic-Con a few weeks ago — or so his many photo-posts would have us believe. Most recently, it seems he's been buddying up with Jim Carrey.

Monterey will release the 2010 independent neo-noir Road to Nowhere directed by the great Monte Hellman on Blu-ray and DVD on August 23 for the list prices of $34.95 and $26.95, respectively.
Femme fatale as femme fatale: Shannyn Sossamon makes a movie in Road to Nowhere.
Written by Variety editor Steven Gaydos and starring Shannyn Sossamon (40 Days and 40 Nights), Dominique Swain (Fall Down Dead), Waylon Payne (Walk the Line), Cliff De Young (Suicide Kings) and John Diehl (Down in the Valley), the romance-thriller film tells the enigmatic tale of cult film director Mitchell Haven (Tygh Runyan, TV’s Stargate Universe), who has found the material to make his next movie. It’s a true crime story based in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina, involving a beautiful young woman, Velma Duran (Sossamon), and her older politico lover, Rafe Taschen (De Young). Last week Brad asked me if I was interested in writing an article examining the work of two top Hollywood directors, J.J. Abrams (Star Trek) and Quentin Tarantino (Inglourious Basterds). Both filmmakers often wear their influences on their sleeves to the point some have accused both men of being derivative at times and, in Quentin's case, some have gone as far as to call him a plagiarist.
At the time Brad brought the idea to me I had not yet seen Abrams' new flick, Super 8, but that was remedied last Saturday, a day that quickly turned into more than just research and a movie.
As I dutifully waited in line, who should walk up and get in line right behind me? Why none other than Mr. Tarantino himself. I glanced back to make sure I wasn't hallucinating, and then waited in line like any good Angeleno. We don't like...

Erik Larsen weighed in yesterday on Neil Gaiman's recent court dealings with Todd McFarlane over disputed character rights related to "Spawn," and both Gaiman and McFarlane have since posted their own opinions on the matter, prompting another response from Larsen.
Meanwhile, Twitter was fluttering with Bill Cosby death rumors yesterday. Mike Benson expressed relief when those subsided, though the comics and entertainment industry in general mourned the loss of Superman and James Bond screenwriter Tom Mankiewicz. Geoff Johns in particular noted his passing. Find out what he said after the jump where you'll also see a "Lone Wolf and Cub" casting pick from Chris Weston.

Sean Patrick Flanery – When I told Heidi I’d set up an interview with him for Pretty/Scary, I think her heart might have stopped momentarily. Mine may have skipped a beat too. There’s a lot to love. He had that cute and creepy thing going for him in Powder. He was simply adorable (I mean, very manly) as Young Indiana Jones. He had the honor of getting ganked by Christopher Walken in Suicide Kings. He’s brought us some serious (and not-so serious) scares in Demon Hunter, The Masters of Horror’s The Damned Thing, Kaw, and The Insatiable, as well as episodes of Charmed, The Outer Limits, The Twilight Zone, and more recently, The Dead Zone. And he’s got some more sf/f and horror in the works: Deadly Impact hits DVD this April with Mongolian Death Worms and Scavengers slated for later in 2010. Plus,...

One of the first things to pop into my mind when I first heard about 44 Inch Chest was What an interesting title? I wonder where it came from? Maybe it refers to a measurement, or maybe its something entirely abstract. To be honest, after seeing the movie I still couldnt tell you the meaning for sure, if there even is a meaning. However, what I can tell you is that 44 Inch Chest is a film that drew me in, wrapped its sharply written dialogue and its enigmatic story around my brain for 95 minutes of cinematic excellence.
Written by Louis Mellis and David Scinto, who previously gave us the British gangster film Sexy Beast, and directed by Malcolm Venville in his feature film debut, 44 Inch Chest hits audience heads with a hammer of hardcore dialogue. The fast-paced, sharp-tongued conversations that dominate this film are reminiscent of David Mamet,...

Some of these include comics (of course), the upcoming Green Lantern movie and the recently released concept art, the Deadpool movie, Smallville, the Superman franchise, Zac Ephron as Spider-Man, Batman, the comic book business, the nature of heroism and a whole lot more.
The guys also make some picks this week including Sal’s pick of Marvel’s mini-series Deadpool: Suicide Kings, Matt’s choice of the Cohen Brothers A Serious Man and Chris’ pick of David Lynch’s modern classic Mulholland Drive.
As usual, if you have any comments, questions, critiques or offers of sponsorship, feel free to hit us up in the comments, on Twitterand at Facebook, MySpace or via email.

John Mark Galecki, better known to the world as Johnny Galecki and the star of Big Bang Theory (TV), was born on April 30, 1975, to Richard and Mary Lou Galecki. Dad was a U.S. Air Force officer stationed in Belgium and mom was a mortgage consultant. At the age of three, Johnny and his family, which also includes sister Allison and brother Nick, relocated back to the United States, setting in Oak Park, Illinois. Galecki, who quit school in the middle of eighth grade, moved with his family from Chicago to Long Beach, California, when he was 14. When the family decided that they missed Chicago too much, they all moved back to Chicago. Well, not all of them. Galecki, then just 14, settled into a studio apartment in Burbank. On his own at 14? "On my own, yeah," Galecki told TimeOut Chicago a couple of years ago. "It made sense at the time.

Lots of actors make a movie or attempt to headline a television show, fail, and then vanish into obscurity. Maybe they resign themselves to character roles or bit parts, or they say "I'm going to concentrate on my family." It's noble, but time and time again we've seen these types burst back onto the public radar courtesy of a breakthrough role in a television series or film. Below is the first part of a list of the ones we think are the best and have since had the longest lasting impact. Feel free to suggest additions.

Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle - Neil Patrick Harris
Granted, that poster was actually for the second Harold & Kumar movie, but the fact remains: that brief cameo in the stoner flick Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle gave Neil Patrick Harris an unprecedented bounce-back. After his child-star role in Doogie Howser, M.D.

Sean Patrick Flanery in any movie is worth picking up. I’ve been a fan of his ever since he put on the fedora for George Lucas’ short-lived TV show “The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles”, and continued to be one through “Suicide Kings” and the “Boondock Saints” movies (catch the sequel in theaters if you’re so inclined). Flanery’s latest is playing the bad guy in a sci-fi action movie called “Scavengers”, which will co-star Louise Linton (below) as the female lead. The film, an indie sci-fi production, is about crews of space scavengers that compete for supplies, energy and treasure out there in the cold wastelands of space. When the crew of the Revelator, led by Emerson (Linton), comes across the alien-created Chaos Generator, they must fight to keep it out of the hands of her former shipmate, the sinister Captain Jekel (Flanery). Ooooh. Flanery as a sinister bad guy.

For the unaware, www.horrorcore.com is one of the largest outlets of the horrorcore/wicked shit musical genres the online market has to offer. For nearly a decade the site has played host to some of the most promising horrorcore veterans and prospects alike. Horrorcore powerhouses such as Mars, Menacide, Psycho Jesus, Kid Crusher, Q-Strange, and Insane Poetry have all been known to frequent the website, as well as quite a few of those future shiners like J.Hexx, bOb e. NiTe, and CrAkD (to name a few).
Well, back in 2003, the aforementioned Menacide launched what would become an annual horrorcore.com tradition; each Halloween a collection of the best holiday themed music the site has to offer would be compiled into one mass collection and released under the Devilz Nite moniker. Over the years some excellent work has graced the Devilz Nite compilations; terrific appearances from the likes of Sinister X,...

Deadpool: Suicide Kings #5 – Marvel – $3.99
Score: 8.0
Don’t let the cover fool you, that’s not Zombie Deadpool’s head that Tombstone is holding. That guy’s only appearing in Deadpool: Merc with a Mouth for now. Instead of guest starring Z-pool, this issue picks up with the guest starring Spider-Man as he and Deadpool square off against the Wrecking Crew. (Side note: One small favor for writers working on the Wrecking Crew going forward, please have them stop mentioning they have fought Thor in every book they appear in. It just gets lame and repetitive, especially after everyone they say it to who isn’t a Norse god kicks their butts. ‘Kay. Thanks. End rant.)
Obviously physically undermatched to take on villains who have tangled with Thor, Spider-Man and Deadpool take a different approach and get by with a little help from the Punisher who has taken using past villains...
