Emily Bader plays Lady Jane Gray in My Lady Jane for Amazon Prime Video, here’s the trailer for the new show.
Historical swashbucklers with female leading roles are becoming a regular feature, what with the success of Netflix’s Damsel and the Enola Holmes series, as well as Sally Wainwright’s wonderful Renegade Nell on Disney+.
The latest to hit the market is My Lady Jane, which comes to Amazon’s Prime Video service next month.
The synopsis reads as follows:
Gird your loins for the tragic tale of Lady Jane Grey, the young Tudor noblewoman who was Queen of England for nine days and then beheaded in 1553… F*ck that. We’re retelling history the way it should have happened: the damsel in distress saves herself. This is an epic tale of true love and high adventure set in an alt-universe of action, history, fantasy, comedy, romance, and rompy-pompy.

55-year-old Scottish actor Peter Capaldi has scored the highly talked about role of the twelfth incarnation of The Doctor in BBC's long-running "Doctor Who". Capaldi replaces Matt Smith whose version is set to regenerate during this year's Christmas special.
A life long Who fan, Capaldi has previously been a part of the Who-universe. He had a guest starring role as an ancient Roman merchant named Caecilius in the 2008 episode "Fires of Pompeii," and had a major role as an ultimately tragic Government man named John Frobisher in the mini-series "Torchwood: Children of Earth".
With over three decades of experience, the role of The Doctor is quite different to what has been Capaldi's most defining role to this date - the frequently swearing Government spin doctor Malcolm Tucker in the acidic satire "The Thick of It" and its 2009 feature "In the Loop".

Strangulations, ground-down corpses and bodies concealed inside tanning beds... surely we're talking about Tarantino or perhaps even one of the Coens' grittier films? Jackpot follows on from the phenomenal surprise success of last year's Headhunters, using another Jo Nesbo novel as source material for this darkly comic crime story. Having sold over nine million books, Norway's leading crime writer doesn't disappoint, again helping to sustain Scandinavia's current reputation as producers of high quality crime fiction.

The Australian Film Television and Radio School (Aftrs) today announced new additions to the 2012 film and TV curriculum including two new masters programs.
Initiated by Neil Peplow, Director of Screen Content, the new courses will focus on building skills to create recognised career paths and springboards to the industry.
Brought over by Aftrs from the UK in May, Peplow – whose credits include co-producing Shooting Fish and Waking Ned executive producing Bright Young Things – had previously completed an audit of UK screen education courses with three of seven meeting the certified criteria.
With Aftrs, Peplow recognised graduates were eager to jump straight into their selected field. However, the new courses would, Peplow said speaking with Encore, build skills through workshops within specialised areas, teaching a realist approach, from the foundation diploma – for students with a passion for film but unsure where they belong – through to the masters courses.
