The scenes set in Transylvania were actually mostly filmed in the Italian film studios. The castle exteriors were filmed at the Fénis Castle near Aosta, the interiors at Villa Farnese in Caprarola, near Viterbo.
Second movie about Paolo Villaggio's character Giandomenico Fracchia, following Fracchia la belva umana (1981) and the TV mini-series Giandomenico Fracchia (1975). Except from the main role, the two movies are unrelated. In particular the character of Fracchia is here portrayed with some differences compared to his previous appearances: the most noticeable one is that he doesn't work for a large company anymore, but for a real estate agency. Also some recurring characters from the previous appearances of Fracchia, like his love interest and his harsh boss, don't appear in this movie.
First and only appearance of Fracchia's fiancee. In the previous appearances, Fracchia was a single and in unrequited love with a female colleague.
When Giandomenico Fracchia (Paolo Villaggio) and his girlfriend are at the cinema, the movie they are watching is The Return of the Living Dead (1985).
Actor Plinio Fernando appears as a vampyre among the dinner guests. In the Fantozzi movies he played Fantozzi's daughter Mariangela and then also his granddaughter Uga, until Fantozzi in Paradiso (1993), before being replaced by Maria Cristina Maccà in both roles.
