I was thirteen when I first saw this French film on the Movie Network here in Canada. It's an extremely erotic portrayal of a middle aged man and the young woman who both rejuvenates and destroys him. I don't know why as a 13 year old, I found this movie so impressionable; maybe it was because of the film's liberal use of full frontal nudity, but to be honest, I sort of fell in love with the character, Laura Leur herself. Too bad she was into older men! L. Compared to work like the original Emanuelle and anything by Zalman King, this movie shines and shimmers. It's also incredibly photographed and I can recall many shots quite vividly even after so many years. I wish I could see this film again. Maybe someday, Laura Leur. This is also one of the films that got me hooked on subtitles.
Anyone tired of Catherine Breillat's rampant nihilism would do well to detour here. A genuinely sexy film.

I saw this movie in 2016 and the quality of this production is still extremely good! Every actors in "Laura Laur" are natural and specially the actor : Pierre-François Bouffard which gives a truly amazing performance. He was only fourteen year's old and he was able to play with a great intensity. This gives to the spectator a breathtaking performance. Even if he's not the main actor, he play an important role that helps to understand different aspect of the story. He knows how to play without saying a word and just feel the power of the emotion through the picture that's his great strength. That's true there's several erotic scenes but the director shows it in natural and lovely way. The story is interesting and that's why it makes "Laura Laur" a beautiful masterpiece.
