The game actually requires the player to occasionally intentionally make the wrong choice and die in order to gather information about the puzzle he/she needs to solve.
With the exception of Murray Rubinstein and some minor players, the entire cast has appeared on one or more of the Star Trek TV series.
Since the game was made for older operating systems, it won't install on the newer versions of Windows. A small patch called "borgptch" has been released for the game to resolve this problem.
During the game, the player must often make a choice between two obvious actions. Sometimes however, the correct choice is a "hidden" third option that isn't obvious at all and requires Q's outside the box thinking. In these cases, clicking all over the screen in hope of getting lucky usually works. This doesn't help when it comes to obtuse console puzzles. On the other hand, the player is sometimes required not to act in certain dramatic situations even though the characters imply otherwise.
The starship bridge seen in this game was originally used in Star Trek: Voyager (1995) as the USS Excelsior bridge, in the episode "Flashback".
