All is well and good in a little village in Belison town, Antique province, Western Visayas, as a priest blesses an abundant harvest that is being celebrated in a pastoral setting. To Peping, Jacinta appears to be a model wife, a happy woman, and a loyal daughter. Clarita, her sister, is perceived by the town as being the complete opposite: she fled to the city, met Joey, a wealthy man, and even skipped their father Arcadio's burial. The ideal religious role model, their mother Almeda, has become somewhat crazy due to aging and the death of her husband. The family starts to fall apart when Clarita and her husband show up in the village to settle property deeds; they start to peel away the layers that hide a terrible secret that has kept everyone in silent suffering behind the joyful facade.
