One day, the crew was being lackadaisical about clearing traffic for a shot. Director Charles Gale through an all out tantrum and later he said "I'm not angry. A director needs to throw one good tantrum to get everyone in line. Just watch. I won't have to do that again for the rest of the shoot." From then everyone was on task because they didn't want to see him blow up again.
Concorde-New Horizons' studio was an old lumber yard in Venice, CA which was close to Santa Monica Airport. It was not soundproofed so a PA was on the roof who would beep in and say "plane" whenever a plane was arriving overhead to ruin a shot. It happened a lot.
This was the first movie to use the recreated Oval Office in the Reagan Library.
On set Ryan Thomas Johnson (The Slug) asked Martin Sheen and Joe Mantegna why they were doing the movie. They looked at each other, chuckled, and both said, "Sack of money." Joe Mantegna added that doing a Roger Corman movie was a rite of passage in the industry that he never got to do.
Ryan Thomas Johnson (The Slug) said Martin Sheen was really pulling his hair at the end of the movie when he tries to stop the bomb. He tried to convince him to do a "stage pull" but he just stared at him blankly and said, "Hmmm...". He continued to pull his hair.
