Having always been a fan of Ms. Audran - not least since her masterpiece, Babette's Feast, this film is pure delight, it glides along perfectly and is brilliantly played by all. Not only the meal served is extremely tasteful, but the film as a whole - don't miss it!

This is a really nice film centred around the last night of a restaurant. As the friends and regulars of the restaurant gather for one last dinner they each revisit various memories of the other dinner guests. It's full of intimate moments and the whole film is very honest and unromanticised. Not at all Hollywood. I'd really like to see this film again sometime - not a blockbuster but well worth my time. I was tired and didn't really feel like following subtitles but I found myself drawn in anyway. So I recommend this one for a quiet afternoon with your cat and a cuppa.

I have now seen this 3 times, and get more out of it with each viewing. The ensemble cast are marvellous, and the viewer is exposed to the whole range of emotions. A sad, but beautifully "rounded off" ending, too. Wonderfully scripted - provided the subtitling is as good as the version I saw, on SBS television in Australia. One of my all time favourites.
