Max de Winter (Charles Dance) tells the girl (Emilia Fox) that he is twice her age and he could be her father. In another mini-series, Fallen Angel (2007), Dance played the role of Fox's father.
Jean Anderson's role as Max's grandmother was completely cut from the version aired on PBS, and subsequently released to home video in the U.S.
