Pierce mentions he trained at the S.H.I.E.L.D. Kirby Academy, a reference to comic book artist Jack Kirby.

This was Marvel Studios's first attempt at Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013). The next one would be very successful with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013) which starred Clark Gregg and Chloe Bennet and ran for seven seasons.

Cannon Films had an Agents of Shield movie in the works in 1985/86 But, it never materialized.
