Goofs

When Gena Rowlands' character drops the cup and saucer, the cup falls upside down, spilling all the tea. The cup then slides, upside down and completely empty, away from the edge of the bedside table, while the saucer falls to the floor. The next shot of the cup and saucer show the saucer on the floor and the cup, still containing tea, falling onto the saucer.

When Birdie and Justin are at the dance, the band takes a break and Birdie and Justin begin to dance by the juke box, but you can see the band performing on the stage in the background.

When Birdee is walking Bernice to her first day of school, Birdee is wearing a white flowered dress and has her hair half-up. Then comes the scene in the attic with her mother, and Birdee is wearing a completely different outfit with her hair up. But by the time they sit down to dinner that night, Birdee is back in the dress with her hair half up. Mrs. Calvert's outfit has also changed from the attic scene, notably her pants and her earrings.

When Birdee and Bernice drive from Chicago to Smithville, Texas they show images of Texas, including Austin Texas (183 n and Mopac at 6:28)- then show them crossing the Texas state line, making them have to have crossed the state line twice in their travels.

When Birdee goes to visit her father alone, her hair and clothes are completely dry, but just before that she walked under heavy rain. It's impossible to be that dry in so little time without help.

At the funeral (which appears to be a Catholic service), there's a closing liturgical dialogue in which the priest says "God be with you" and the people respond "And also with you." This is incorrect--the priest should have said "The Lord be with you."

When Birdee is sitting with Bernice on her bed after her father has just left her, Bernice tries to rub her eyes by first going under her glasses then she goes right through her glasses where the lens should have been.

When Birdee is hungover in the bathroom and crying to her mother, she has red tears running down her face from whatever red makeup that was smeared around Sandra Bullocks' eyes to appear sore from crying and vomiting.

When Birdie is working in the photo lab, she accidentally ruins a customer's pictures. She said she loaded the paper wrong. That wouldn't ruin the negatives. Negatives are processed film to expose an image, no paper is involved.

During the scene when Hathaway and Phillips are rapping while sitting on their bed. A cast light appears on the door where the boom microphone silhouette raises in to view.

When Birdee first visits her father at the retirement home.

When Justin takes Birdee to see the house he's building, a giant microphone is hanging in the center of the screen as he opens the door.
