While filming the climactic fight scene, Mark Hamill was told a punch he'd thrown at Peter Stormare's face didn't look convincing, and was asked to swing "lower and closer." On the next take, Hamill did so and accidentally hit Stormare for real. In a making-of documentary, Hamill is visibly shocked by the accident, which he says split Stormare's lip and caused his face to swell up. In a 2021 interview for Filmtopp, Stormare revealed that one of his teeth was knocked out, forcing him to go to a hospital. He has despised Hamill ever since, calling him "a real idiot" who never apologized: "For me he's a shithead. And he'll always be a shithead. He's in my black book."
