Bill Farmer, possibly best known to most of us as the voice of Disney’s Goofy for the past twenty-seven years, is an amazing talent, a hilarious person and an all-around nice guy. Bill, who was named a Disney Legend in 2009, and in 2011 was the first voice actor to receive the prestigious Friz Freleng Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Animation, began his career as a radio DJ and stand-up comedian before landing the role of Goofy in 1987. He has gone on to voice a myriad of other well-known characters as well, including Disney characters such as Pluto, Horace Horsecollar, and Doc.
Bill’s also voiced Looney Tunes characters such as Yosemite Sam, Sylvester, and Foghorn Leghorn, and other fun and memorable roles such as Secret Squirrel in Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law, Stinkie in Casper: A Spirited Beginning and Casper Meets Wendy, Willie Bear in Horton Hears a Who!

Hollywood has been feeling nostalgic recently with Yogi Bear and The Smurfs coming next year. Now, What’s Playing is getting word that Universal is looking to reboot Casper the Friendly Ghost, and bring it back to the big screen rather than the small screen. Classic Media, who now own the rights, have been talking to Amblin Entertainment and Universal Pictures about making a new live-action film. Of course, releasing the film in 3D has also talked about, but at this point it’s only talk.
A live-action film was first released in 1995 with Christina Ricci, Bill Pullman, and Malachi Pearson as the voice of Casper. A spin-off film titled Casper: A Spirited Beginning was then released Dtv, with several films following. In 2009, Casper and The Spectrals was released as a reboot of the series, and if this film will likely follow suit. That’s if it gets off the ground.

Instead Guttenberg is trying to recapture his fame in the worst way - by creating more sequels to movies that were once successful. Guttenberg is no stranger to sequels, having done them successfully (Cocoon: The Return), unsuccessfully (Casper: A Spirited Beginning), and redundantly (Police Academy 2, 3, and 4). The actor says he regrets turning down some of the opportunities he's been given though, like Short Circuit 2 and the second half of the Police Academy franchise. Looking at how those turned out, I would have much in the way of regrets Steve. Guttenberg's first big announcement is that he's hoping...
