The house used in Under the Lighthouse Dancing was transported back to Perth from Rottnest Island and rebuilt in the riverside suburb of Bicton. It was subsequently damaged in the tornadoes of May 2005.
The filming location for Under the Lighthouse Dancing is Rottnest Island, a popular holiday island 30kms off the Perth coast and is famous for its quokkas. The beach house was constructed especially for the movie, as accommodation is limited to commercial establishments only. Cars are also kept to a minimum on the island and there are no private vehicles allowed.
