Veteran stage actor Julien Arnold died after suffering a medical emergency onstage during a performance of A Christmas Carol at the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton, Canada.

Arnold, who died Sunday, was 59, according to the Edmonton Journal, which noted that he was playing the role of jovial Fezziwig, Scrooge’s mentor who was the opposite of his miserly apprentice. According to the Citadel’s website, he also played the role of Marley and other ensemble parts in this production.

According to CBC, paramedics were called to the scene and made resuscitation attempts, but Arnold died in the theater.

The Citadel announced his death on Instagram but did not reveal the cause of death.

Lupita Nyong’o, Peter Dinklage, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Sandra Oh have been cast in Shakespeare in the Park’s summer 2025 production of Twelfth Night.

The show will mark the return of the Public Theater’s summertime mainstay after an overhaul of its Central Park home, the Decacorte Theater. For decades, the Public has offered productions of Shakespeare and sometimes other classics at no charge to audience members willing to start lining up many hours before curtain time.

Saheem Ali, The Public’s Associate Artistic Director and Resident Director and a Tony Award nominee, is directing the production. Dinklage is playing Malvolio; Ferguson will be Andrew Aguecheeck; Nyong’o is playing Viola; and Oh is Olivia. Additional casting and details of the creative team will be announced this fall, the Public said.

The Delacorte is being significantly upgraded in the renovation, its first since it opened in 1962, at a projected cost of $78 million.

Peter Dinklage, Lupita Nyong’o, Sandra Oh and Jesse Tyler Ferguson will be part of the cast of Twelfth Night, which is set to reopen the Delacorte Theater in Central Park.

The production, directed by The Public Theater’s resident director Saheem Ali, is slated to take place in August 2025. The outdoor theater, which is run by the Public Theater and offers free tickets to the public for its Free Shakespeare in the Park, has been closed and undergoing renovations since last fall.

In the production, Dinklage will play Malvolio, Nyong’o will play Viola, Sandra Oh will play Olivia and Ferguson will play Andrew Aguecheek.

New York’s Public Theater announced its upcoming season at their Astor Place home as well as Central Park’s to-be-reopened Delacorte Theater where the Public will stage Twelfth Night, directed by Saheem Ali, in summer 2025.

In its 2024-25 season, the Public will feature productions by playwrights Caryl Churchill, Lisa Sanaye Dring, David Finnigan, James Ijames, John Purugganan and S. Shakthidharan. The line-up will include partnerships with theater companies Belvoir St Theatre, Kurinji, and NYU Skirball; Elevator Repair Service; and Ma-Yi Theatre Company and La Jolla Playhouse.

Although unofficially a part of Arrowverse, the show managed to distance itself from other CW’s similar projects that were regarded as straight-up bad in the last few years, especially looking back at the disappointing Flash finale.

A few months ago it was confirmed that Season 4 would be the show’s last, even though the viewership remained steady, it wasn’t nearly enough to justify a high CGI budget. Season 4 is set to return with fewer episodes, with much of its main cast missing and a much smaller writers team. But the show must go on and so one iconic character will reportedly appear in the show.

Kate Bush has been announced as ambassador for Record Store Day UK 2024.

The annual celebration of independent record stores takes place on April 20th. As part of the festivities, Bush will release a special 10-vinyl of her song “Eat the Music,” from 1983’s The Red Shoes. The limited-edition Rsd UK pressing is described as a beautiful Uv printed on 10-inch with her preferred tracklist of “Eat the Music” and B-sides “Lily” and “Big Stripey Lie.”

Andre Braugher died of lung cancer, his longtime publicist Jennifer Allen has shared, according to the New York Times. The two-time Emmy-winning actor of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Homicide: Life on the Street died on Monday this week at the age of 61.

Allen revealed that Braugher was diagnosed with lung cancer a few months ago. When news of his death was shared, it was shared that he died following a brief illness.

In 2014, Braugher spoke with the New York Times Magazine, which reported that he had stopped smoking and drinking years prior.

Exclusive: Tony Award nominee Ato Blankson-Wood (Slave Play) has been cast as “Cliff” in the buzzy, upcoming Broadway production of Cabaret starring Eddie Redmayne as “The Emcee” and Gayle Rankin as “Sally Bowles.”

Directed by Rebecca Frecknall and designed by Tom Scutt, the revival – officially titled Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club – begins previews at the August Wilson Theatre on Monday, April 1, 2024, with an official press opening on Sunday, April 21.

The Broadway-bound comedy Fat Ham and Shakespeare in the Park’s Merry Wives are among this year’s recipients of the 66th Obie Awards honoring Off and Off-Off Broadway productions.

Presented by the American Theatre Wing, the Obies will be handed out Monday evening in a ceremony at Manhattan’s Terminal 5 venue. Sustained and Lifetime Achievement winners will accept their awards during the ceremony, while remarks of all other winners will premiere on the the American Theatre Wing’s YouTube channel.

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show Friday, the 88-year-old actress said an age-related degenerative eye condition is affecting her ability to remember lines.

“It has become impossible and because I have a photographic memory, I need to find a machine that not only teaches me my lines, but also tells me where they appear on the page,” Dench said. “I used to find it very easy to learn lines and remember them.
