Fans mocked the appearance of the eight-foot-tall bronze statue of former Miami Heat point guard Dwyane Wade after the team unveiled it outside Kaseya Center.
On Jan. 14, Miami Heat president Pat Riley announced the commencement of a project to build a statue to further honor Wade during a halftime ceremony in their 104-87 win over the Charlotte Hornets.
The Heat commissioned sculptors Omri Amrany and Oscar Leon to craft the statue.

Heard of strange Hollywood feuds? The Sopranos had one of its own. James Gandolfini didn’t just play a tough guy on the 1999 drama series—he was one, on and off-screen. But while he faced fictional foes on set, he was also wrestling with real-life demons.

There’s a lot of love in the air lately as stars from the Bachelor Nation senior spin-offs have started stepping out together.
Last week, Joan Vassos admitted that she played matchmaker with two of her Golden Bachelorette men, trying to set them up with The Golden Bachelor castmates.
She shared that one hookup looked like it was working out while another did not.
Now, it looks like we have confirmation, possibly, that one of the matches she made involved The Golden Bachelor runner-up, Leslie Fhima.
That’s because Leslie and Jordan Heller shared a photo of themselves out together in Los Angeles, and they look like a cute couple.
Leslie posted the photo first, to her Instagram stories, and tagged Jordan in it. He reposted and added a flashing “Winner” sticker, making it clear that this was a successful outing for the latest Bachelor Nation couple.

The animated gang known as the Bad Guys has been pulling off unlikely heists with both skill and humor. This crew of felonious friends first delighted audiences in 2022 with their feature-length debut.
Since then, they’ve continued their antics across other outings, including a previous Netflix holiday special. Their latest adventure finds them setting their sights on a spooky new target just in time for Halloween.
As with their past exploits, Mr. Wolf leads the charge as the self-assured mastermind. P Diddy (aka Sean Combs) is really struggling to keep his reputation up as one of the most renowned rappers cum record producers cum record executives in the entire entertainment industry as allegations regarding one too many issues keep on popping up against him. What’s even worse is that even previous allegations against him are resurfacing right now, including those from 2Pac.

And, amidst his recent arrest following all the s-xual misconduct charges against him – among others – these allegations aren’t doing the now-disgraced music mogul any good.

Storytelling has been a facet of social behavior since the days of fingerpainting on dimly lit cavern walls.
Hopefully, the grunting, scratching cave audience didn't bludgeon the artist to death with makeshift clubs when a bad story resulted.
Modern fans can get downright mean over aspects of their favorite series.
Sometimes, the showrunners acknowledge the outcry -- sometimes, they don't.
Netflix's The Witcher and Amazon Prime's Rings of Power are perfect examples of what happens when writers ignore the fans, with both seeing a drastic drop in viewership.
The Rings of Power ended the season with only a third of its original audience.
Then again, for every failure, there is a success story.
For the most part, Shogun stuck to the books and never had to face the wrath of the fans.
It doesn't take much to reason the rest of the way through this balancing act, with millions...

Don Mancini, who has written every film in the Child’s Play / Chucky franchise (except the remake) and directed a few of them, developed the TV series Chucky with producer David Kirschner – and he has made it clear that he enjoys casting actors in multiple roles. For example, Devon Sawa has already played four different characters over the course of the TV show’s three seasons. Now Entertainment Weekly has learned that legendary filmmaker John Waters is the latest person to play two different roles in this franchise. Having previously played Pete Peters, a tabloid photographer who got dissolved by acid in 2004’s Seed of Chucky, Waters has now been added to the cast of Chucky season 3, where he’ll be playing Wendell Wilkins, “the reclusive creator of the Good Guy dolls, who gets drawn into the psychopathic Chucky’s tangled web”.

Travis Braun’s screenplay Bad Boy, which follows a rescue dog who suspects that his loving new owner is a serial killer, topped the 2023 Black List today. The 19th edition, which was selected by more than 375 film executives, counts 76 feature screenplays by 80 writers.
Second place went to Justin Piasecki’s Stakehorse which follows a racetrack veterinarian who runs an off-the-books ER for criminals, and finds his practice and life in jeopardy when he’s recruited for his patient’s heist.
“This year, the industry was defined by a debate about the value of writers within it, and I think it’s inevitable that this year’s Black List means more than it has in the past,” said its founder Franklin Leonard. “I’ve been saying that writing is the lifeblood of the industry for almost twenty years now, and I’ll continue saying it until the industry actually starts acting like it.

They may not be General Zod or Darth Vader, but these characters are the kind of mundane villains you might encounter in everyday life...
The most memorable movie villains are often also the most outlandish. If you were to stop most strangers on the street and ask them to name screen villain, they’d probably either tell you to leave them alone and stop making them nervous, or they’d instead name one of cinema’s big hitters: heavy-breathing cloak-wearer Darth Vader, or flesh-eating aesthete Hannibal Lecter.
In reality, villains are more mundane. They seldom wear outlandish costumes, and they don’t necessarily even kill or injure people. Real-world villains can range from bullying and self-important bosses to aggressively opinionated news anchors, and from sadistic physical education teachers to heartless politicians.

Marvel and Netflix are teaming up for four new superhero series. Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Iron Fist and Luke Cage will each get their own 13-episode series, and “Once all four have made their Netflix debut, they will team up for a miniseries event that reimagines The Defenders, Marvel’s dream team of self-sacrificing, heroic characters.”
Speaking of comics, The CW is developing a series based on iZombie, to be produced by Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas. It “centers on a med student-turned-zombie who takes a job at the coroner’s office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity. Fall is a hopeful time for TV viewers. Every new show is an unknown, save for a handful of promos and publicity photos and we're waiting to find out if the show lives up to the promise of a great idea or... withers away to inspire case studies of failure analysis.
There are few obvious trends this year. The New Normal and Partners both feature a gay couple among its lead characters while Arrow and 666 Park Avenue try to capture the Occupy Wall Street zeitgeist that helped make Revenge a hit. But overall, this fall lacks the "me too" quality that so often characterizes a TV season.
The one trend that does stand out this season are strong ideas that don't quite meet their potential in the pilot. Vegas, Last Resort, 666 Park Avenue and The Mindy Project are some of the pilots that left critics hoping that later episodes fix the rough spots.

In our interview with him posted yesterday, Michael Cudlitz (Officer John Cooper) let us know about the gay teen bullying storyline in this week's episode, warning us that it wasn't going to be “wrapped up in a nice, neat little bow”. We can't say he didn't warn us.
The episode opens with Dewey and some other officers on crowd control in front of a building. A cry goes up and the camera pans up to someone in pink dangling off the building. It's a teenage boy in a frilly dress and sneakers and Cooper has ahold of his ankle.
Ominous voiceover: “After twenty years on the job, Officer John Cooper has been wondering how his fellow officers will remember him. But right now, the only thing he can think about is hanging on.”
Flashback eight hours. Cooper begins his day at roll call, receiving a pin commemorating 20 years on the job.

This week, Fat Guy Kevin Carr strips down to his boxers and starts a new training regimen to make him look more like Huge Jackman. He’s got a head start, considering his torso looks almost like Jackman’s… if you turn it upside down. After duking it out with some robots in a boxing ring, Kevin tries his hands at politics because it’s the kind of business where you don’t necessarily have to look like Ryan Gosling to get a young hottie like Evan Rachel Wood. But the primary system leaves him depressed and cold, so he takes a trip to the Sudan to play target practice with some warlords. He hears the Sudan is simply lovely this time of year. Want to hear what Kevin has to say on the Fat Guys at the Movies podcast? Click here to listen how religion comes to the Magical Studio in the Sky with Reverend Scott...

When Melissa Leo blames her Academy Award f-bomb on her "Mildred Pierce" co-star, Kate Winslet, somehow it only makes Kate more attractive. The crush object of men and women alike apparently curses like a sailor and Leo says she picked it up like just another accent (though I'm thinking Melissa was cursing way before she met Kate). And in the on-set visit (video below), Winslet's "Mildred Pierce" fellow cast members rave about her comedic antics, claiming that she had them rolling with laughter. I defy anyone not to fall in love with her.

Police lights flash. Sirens blare. Medics rush toward the twisted wreckage of a totaled car. Firefighters sprint into a burning building. Colombian guerrillas wreak havoc in a small rural village. This…is American Idol? Yes, it is. Or rather, this…is American Idol…misguidedly dipping its toe into the reenactment business.

As we all know by now, this Sundayis the Primetime Emmy Awards. And, as all the pop culture gurus of the worldponder the odds of what will win, we prefer to just lay it on the table andgive a shout out to the people and shows we want to see win. We’re notjournalists, we’re bloggers. We don’t have to be objective. We can say it likewe see it.

I know it looks dire as it's 28% lighter (at least so far) and minus an artistic director, but no fear, there's still more to come, and with what's been announced theirs some interesting sounding stuff, especially a film we wrote about briefly called Accidents Happen. Also premiering is the comedy Stay Cool and the Danish film Original, along with the North American premier of The Exploding Girl which we also wrote about.
