The co-founders of “Made in Chelsea” producers Monkey are stepping down after 23 years with the company.

Sources tell Variety that David Granger and Will Macdonald announced their decision to exit as creative directors of Monkey on Friday afternoon. It’s not yet clear why they’re leaving, but it’s believed they may set up another production shingle in the future.

Granger and Macdonald founded Monkey in 2000 and joined Universal International Studios in 2010 when the company was acquired by NBCUniversal. Since that period, Monkey has grown into a reality behemoth in the U.K., best known for the long-running unscripted show “Made in Chelsea” — now on Season 25 on digital channel E4 and also airing on Peacock in the U.S. — as well as “The Real Housewives of Cheshire,” which is on Season 16 for ITVBe.

It was followed by Gogglebox at 9pm, which was the evening's highest-rated show outside of soaps with 3.65 million (18.3%). Alan Carr: Chatty Man rounded things off with 1.19 million (8.1%).

Chris Evans has apparently picked his Top Gear presenting team.

The new main host of the show let slip the decision had been made when taking a call during Nick Grimshaw's Radio 1 Breakfast Show this morning (October 15).

A listener asked why Evans hadn't replied to his application tape and the Tfi Friday host quipped: "It's not rocket science is it my friend. Obviously it wasn't good enough!

"But we did look at every single one of them and we called back a few people and we invited those people down to the Top Gear track at Dunsfold Aerodrome.

"We gave them full on proper scripted multi-camera auditions and there will be announcements pending."

He added of the new co-presenters' previous experience: "Some people may have done a bit of telly, but they are from these auditions.

"It's on the telly in May but we start filming next Wednesday."

If you were expecting some classic 1990s indie bands to launch Tfi Friday this week, you're going to be disappointed.

That being said, U2 and Take That - two bands who were around in the decade that Chris Evans's show is synonymous with - will perform on its full series premiere on Friday (October 16).

Has Chris Evans just revealed when Top Gear is likely to return to the BBC?

During an appearance at the Radio Festival in London on Tuesday (September 29), the broadcaster told delegates that "Top Gear is not on until May, that's seven months, three days and 18 hours [from now]".

When the BBC ended its relationship with Evans's predecessor Jeremy Clarkson, the corporation immediately confirmed plans to bring Top Gear back to screens in 2016.

However, the BBC has since told Digital Spy that it won't be confirming exact transmission dates for the show at the moment.

Jay Hunt, who used to be controller of BBC One, thinks the Beeb should think twice when planning its Saturday night schedule this year as ITV really needs the talent show to be a success.

Tfi Friday's all-star anniversary special attracted an audience of over 3 million, overnight figures suggest.

Chris Evans and star guests including Tom Daley, Shaun Ryder, Lewis Hamilton and Jeremy Clarkson entertained 3.35m (18.3%) on Friday (June 12) - the highest-rated primetime programme outside of soaps and news bulletins.

Elsewhere in Channel 4 primetime, Marvel's Agents of Shield concluded with 621k (3.2%) at 8pm, with 831k (8.7%) tuning in for Alan Carr's Chatty Man at 11pm. Greg Davies sitcom Man Down aired to 370k (6.8%) at midnight.

Meanwhile on Channel 5, 1.13 million watched this week's fake 'eviction' on Big Brother at 9pm, along with the return of past housemates Helen Wood, Nikki Grahame and Brian Belo in a secret bunker.

Big Brother's Bit on the Side attracted an audience of 370k (6.8%) at 10pm.

Chris Evans seems to think that if Tfi Friday returns for a full series, it should be with Nick Grimshaw as its presenter.

The duo briefly shared the stage tonight (June 12) during Evans's one-off revival of Tfi Friday, and talk quickly turned to the show's future.

"I think Nick is the future of the show," Evans told viewers. "I think this is good fun for us oldies, but if this show comes back he is the guy, he is the guy."

Grimshaw seemed to agree about Tfi Friday getting a full series, as he mouthed the word "yeah" following Evans's endorsement.

Jeremy Clarkson made his return to television tonight (June 12) alongside Chris Evans on the revival of Tfi Friday.

Clarkson appeared in a brief video teaching Evans how to properly introduce a car, poking fun at rumours about the future of Top Gear.

After demonstrating the proper Top Gear enunciation, Clarkson deadpanned: "You're not going to get my old job."

"Don't want it. I ruled myself out," Evans argued, prompting an annoyed Clarkson to retort: "You haven't been asked."

Lewis Hamilton then introduced a video parody of Evans's mother taking the slowest lap ever around the Top Gear track.

Evans fuelled rumours that he could replace Clarkson by revealing that he would be making a "secret Top Gear film".

The return of Tfi Friday tonight (June 11) after a 15-year hiatus was a monumental event for children of the 1990s.

Chris Evans certainly pulled out all of the stops for the entertainment show's return, including poking fun at Jeremy Clarkson's controversial departure from Top Gear.

Tfi Friday took extraordinary measures in ending Channel 4's live ban on Happy Mondays star Shaun Ryder tonight (June 12).

Evans made light of his past with the musician by introducing Ryder on Channel 4's revival as being the reason "why Tfi Friday could never ever, ever be live".

Ryder then emerged with a piece of tape over his mouth, leading to a bit where he let loose with some indecipherable cursing.

Previously-announced guests such as Jeremy Clarkson, Blur, Liam Gallagher and Years & Years will show up, as well as The Who's Roger Daltrey and Shaun Ryder.

Rudimental, Ian Broudie, Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs, Zak Starkey and Kenneth Branagh will also be joining Chris Evans and the team for the one-off broadcast.

The special will celebrate the history of the show, which originally aired from 1996 to 2000 on Channel 4.

Tfi Friday was the perfect show of its time, airing every Friday evening on Channel 4 and featuring as much Britpop and silly anarchic humour as you could ask for.

Ahead of its one-off comeback show this Friday (June 12), Digital Spy has collected just some of the most memorable and hilarious moments from its five years on air.

Jeremy Clarkson's untimely departure from Top Gear came before all of the footage he'd filmed had been transmitted.

BBC Two offered the first glimpse of this unseen footage today, along with the announcement that it will comprise a special episode bidding farewell to Clarkson.

Jeremy Clarkson is expected to make his TV comeback on Tfi Friday later this week.

The former Top Gear host will appear alongside Chris Evans in Channel 4's one-off anniversary special on Friday (June 12), according to the Guardian.

Over the weekend, Evans sparked rumours that he may replace Clarkson on the BBC Two motoring show, after he revealed that he was making a "secret Top Gear film".

However, the film in question is actually thought to be part of a skit to be included in Tfi Friday later this week.

The BBC confirmed that Evans was not making any Top Gear film for the corporation.

Evans previously said on Sunday Brunch: "Not started yet, but we are doing a secret Top Gear film on Tuesday.

"We're making a Top Gear - we're doing a Top Gear sequence with an independent production company and we're going to see how it goes.

He's categorically denied presenting Top Gear more than once, but Chris Evans has now revealed he's making a 'secret Top Gear film'.

The broadcaster has been heavily linked with the vacant Top Gear position since Jeremy Clarkson was dismissed in March.

When asked on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch today (June 7) whether he'd started presenting Top Gear, Evans said: ''Not started yet, but we are doing a secret Top Gear film on Tuesday.''

He added: "…nobody knows where it's going to be but we're going to make one and see how it goes.

''We're making a Top Gear - we're doing a Top Gear sequence with an independent production company and we're going to see how it goes.''

Evans previously tweeted about Top Gear, saying he would 'never' present the BBC motoring show.

Shaun Ryder is set to make an unlikely comeback to Channel 4's Tfi Friday when the programme returns next week.

The Happy Mondays singer made a memorable sweary appearance on the series back in the 1990s, in which his language was so bad it forced Chris Evans to pre-record all future shows.

According to The Sun, Evans himself had to convince concerned Channel 4 bosses of the booking, and overturned a ban on Ryder appearing on the station.

The singer is the latest name to be added to the special 20th anniversary show, joining the likes of fellow '90s musicians Liam Gallagher and Blur.

Mani from the Stone Roses and Roger Daltrey will also appear.
