Buddy Ackerman, an arrogant Hollywood movie mogul hires aspiring screenwriter Guy to work for him as his assistant. However, Buddy is the boss from hell as he constantly bullies, insults and poorly treats Guy. However, Buddy soon goes too far when he fires Guy and Guy snaps and Guy breaks into Buddy's apartment and takes Buddy hostage and ties him up and beats and tortures him. Guy learns Buddy was no different than him and was also a bullied assistant before becoming a Hollywood movie mogul and he reveals the reason why he's been bullying, insulting and poorly treating him was because it was his own way of teaching Guy that he has to earn his own success in the movie industry. However, Dawn Lockard, Guy's new girlfriend (also a Hollywood producer) arrives and finds Guy aiming a pistol at Buddy and Buddy reveals that Dawn had slept with Buddy so she could boost her own career and Buddy forces Guy to choose between shooting himself or Dawn.
