In Palace (1995) Tricicle play the three sons of a hotel owner who want to bring their Palace-Hotel back to the glamour of former times. Tricicle is made up of its three actors and founders: Carles Sans, Joan Gràcia and Paco who use sign language and humorous mimes . Palace (1995) deals with a luxurious hotel where the lives of hotel workers and various guests get intertwined. A nutty comedy with a multitude of incidents between the varied fauna of residents in a luxury hotel. Three protagonists are pretty well, playing in their ordinary hilarious style, they perform double roles, such as: Carles Sans as Esteban Rius / Carlos Puig , Joan Gràcia as Óscar Rius / Jeque and Paco Mir Paco Mir as Modesto Rius. Alongside these three friendly mime actors, there is a large group of familiar Spanish faces giving likeable interpretations, such as: Lydia Bosch, Beatriz Rico, Nathalie Seseña, Alberto Fernández, Mònica Van Campen, Julia Trujillo and the French Jean Rochefort as the ruthless, egoistic Thomas Fausto.
In the Palace (2023) stands out the luxurious and colorful cinematography by cameraman José Luis López-Linares set on location in Palace Hotel, Coimbra, Curia, Anadia, Aveiro, Portugal, and Seville, Andalucía. As well as the catching and lively musical score by Josep Mª Bardagí, including attractive songs, such as: ¨Palace¨ written by Josep Maria Bardagí, performed by La Vella Dixieland; ¨A pesar de tus besos¨ written by Ia Clua performed by Laura Simó; ¨Aerobicxof¨ written by Ia Clua; ¨Soul Love¨ written by Ia Clua; ¨Tu mano en mi mano¨ written by Carlos Segarra, performed by Los Rebeldes. The motion picture was well directed by Joan Gràcia, Paco Mir, Carles Sans (Tricicle) in their first and only cinematic foray.
¨Tricicle´was founded in Barcelona in 1979, it has been offering its unique humour in theatres around the world for over 40 years. Its universal sense of humour and the absence of spoken text in its works makes it easy for them to export these works to all kinds of countries, where they enjoy considerable recognition. It is currently considered by critics to be one of the best comic mime companies in the world. Tricicle continues to tour countries around the world, from China to Tunisia, via Portugal, Austria and Argentina, and at the same time continues to work on a multitude of new projects. Meanwhile, their second company, Clownic, continues to perform more and more in all those places that Tricicle cannot reach. In 2007 they premiered their eighth show, Garrick, a show in which they pay tribute to the British comedian David Garrick. David Garrick was a renowned English actor from the 18th century. He was so extraordinarily gifted for comedy that doctors recommended his performances as a kind of magic remedy, capable of healing any pain of the soul. We could say that Garrick, without knowing it, was the first laughter therapist in history. From 2010 to 2012, Bits arrives, which they announce as their latest creative show. With Bits, what we do is jump from one sketch to another as if we were consulting different internet pages. This show is not so much a departure from its aesthetics, it is not so futuristic but new, they return to their origins and allow themselves to create a last show of individual gags. «The humor and the clicks are unpredictable and if there is anyone capable of following their free will it is the BITS, intangible beings capable of changing appearance in milliseconds with the sole purpose of ensuring that the show does not lose the thread of the most absurd logic. In 2015 they published their second book TrIcicle, from Z to A, which is described by its own authors as; «A book that is neither psychological nor transcendental, but includes techniques for dressing quickly or for knowing how to find the right point of energy to go on stage.». And finally in 2016 they premiered what they announce as their last show Hits, which includes the best sketches from their entire career. As they did previously with Tricicle20, the audience attending the show will be able to choose via their website which gags they want to see from the more than forty proposed by the artists. In 2018 they announced their retirement, although they still tour with their show throughout the peninsula. In 2008 and 2013 the Tricicle group also dared to adapt and direct two famous musicals as well-known as Spamalot, by Monty Python or Fourever Young by Eric Gedeon. In 2008, with Spamalot, the trio went behind the curtain and instead the roles of the play were played by actors such as Jordi Bosch or Fernando Gil. The play turns out to be very faithful to the original, but adapted to Spanish humor. A show that came to represent more than 400 performances in the Lope de Vega theater in Madrid. In 2013 they adapted and directed the play Forever young, by Eric Gedeon, again performed by other actors. A play about elderly people who spend their last days in a nursing home remembering the past moments of their lives. A musical that includes the legendary songs I Will Survive, Barbie Girl or Forever Young, among others. And that has a decadent, old and stale visual, characteristic of the text.
