Was being broadcast on ITV's London Weekend Television in the early hours of 31st August 1997. At approximately 01.30, during a commercial break, ITN News interrupted programming with the initial report of the car crash that ultimately killed Princess Diana and Dodi Al Fayed. Little information was known at the time and thus the film then resumed for the remainder of it's duration.
In an interview with TV Guide Richard Chamberlain said he wanted to break out of the heroic, leading-man mold and signed on to the television remake.
