Symon Basterfield elected not to take part in this installment because he was in the midst of a divorce at the time.
Nicholas Hitchon's wife declined to appear in the film as she didn't care for the way her husband was depicted - and the criticism he subsequently attracted - in 28 Up (1984).
John Brisby had essentially fallen out with director Michael Apted at this stage so his segments were filmed by Apted's assistant.
