Lynn Marie Latham and Bernard Lechowick left Knots Landing (1979), of which they were the head writers from 1986 to 1991, to create and produce this series. Both Knots Landing (1979) and Homefront (1991) were Lorimar Television productions.
The series takes place from 1945 to 1947.
