This is a typical made-for-TV who's-the-killer-thriller. This film lacks character development, and therefore the viewer is unable to fully relate to and get involved with the characters. The performaces are adequate and the plotline fairly standard, with a few twists to keep the viewer guessing on the killer's identity. Mary Kay Place (a-fav-of-mine) was the draw for me to watch, and I enjoyed her performance marginally. It is an okay watch if you have a couple of hours to fill.

I haven't seen the movie, but I may have played a part. ... I experienced an identical attack in Hawaii in the early 80's but I got away. I met a man at a restaurant. I was alone. I was young and dumb. I got into his car. He told me he was a police officer. He handcuffed me behind my back and strangled me. He didn't know that he only handcuffed one wrist. I yelled out his name. He got off of me. I opened the car door and ran screaming for my life. I heard the tires of his car screeching away. I was battered and bruised. I had one only one shoe, and my clothes were ripped to pieces. I ran to a house and they let me in. They called the Honolulu police. The police questioned me, took me back to the restaurant where I met the man, and left me there, with one shoe, torn clothing, and utterly hysterical... at about one o'clock in the morning. I found a phone and called a friend. He took me to the hospital. The police never did anything. There are a few facts beyond that, but nothing was ever done. I have always thought about this, and always thought I'd been attacked by a serial killer who wanted to kill me, and would kill someone ... or several someones, some day. I've always wanted to know anything about this man, but didn't know how to find out. I just saw the story about this, and the story about this movie. I knew the mans name as Richard. Can anybody help me get any information on this person? I'm getting older now, and would really like to know, even though it is extremely frightening. Thank you.
first off it was obvious a pilot for a series so you have to understand it was not a 'stand alone' secondly it starred stanley tucci who is probably one of the most underrated actors in hollywood. probably because he is a serious stage actor and the only time we see him in films he plays a goof ball. i thought the plot was great. his character and his relationship with his coworkers was funny. nice touch of romance and top it all off hawaii! what more could you ask for? this was more than a way to kill a few hours. i have taped this and shown it to everyone i know and have never had a negative comment. if you get a chance to watch it do!!
