The Seven Maidens aka The Holy Weapon is a movie that mere words cannot do it justice, it has to be seen to be believed. Wong Jing and his wild script along with a tremendous cast make this movie a pure joy ride.Maggie Cheung, Sandra Ng, Michelle Yeoh, "Sharla" Cheung Man, Carina Lau are among the maidens that unite to form the perfect weapon. Fast paced fight scenes and wild action set pieces make this one a winner. I love watching this movie. This movie is what the Hong Kong Cinema is all about.What's not to love about Wong Jing's "everything but the kitchen sink" style of film-making? Tex Avery would have been proud. This movie has all of Wong Jing's trademarks, pretty women,blatant movie parodies, over the top fighting and low brow toilet humor. What more could a true fan ask for?
Highly recommended A++
Factoids: Wong Jing was making three movies at the same time when he was filming the Holy Weapon. Rumor has it that Dennis Chan and Ching Siu-tung took turns directing the movie in Wong Jing's absence.
Most of the cast reunited for a semi-sequel called Flying Dagger
