Destruction have announced their 16th studio album, Birth of Malice, arriving March 7th via Nuclear Blast Records. The video for the second single, the eponymous track “Destruction,” can be streamed now.
Releasing a self-titled song this deep into their career is a bold move, but the German thrash vets pull it off, delivering a proper anthem that captures the essence of the band, its fans, and its legacy: “We are Destruction!” This is full-bore thrash with a punkish snarl and a raw, live-sound production — complemented by some excellent concert footage of the band and its rabid fanbase in the accompanying video.
“The crushing song ‘Destruction’ is the perfect opener for this album: It builds a bridge between our old-school sound and riffing, including song title phrases from classic Destruction tracks and more shredding and melodic twin lead guitars that will pinch your brain with its razorsharp leads!” enthused the band via a press release.

Is the truth really out there when it comes to the actor, writer, podcaster and musician? There’s only one way to find out – ask him here
To say David Duchovny is a busy man is underplaying it. His third studio album Gestureland was released in 2021. If you fancy witnessing The X-Files actor evoking 70s California pop, rock, folk and country, you can catch him live at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire and Latitude festival in July. On his podcast Fail Better, launched in May, he sits down with Ben Stiller, Bette Midler, Sarah Silverman and Freakonomics author Stephen J Dubner to investigate the painful, shameful stings of life.
Duchovny has also written four novels and in 2022 co-authored graphic novel Kepler. On TV, he is now in production on Prime Video’s new psychological thriller series Malice, playing the head of a wealthy and – presumably dodgy – family that is...

The early ‘90s were a peculiar period in the ascendant career of young Nicole Kidman. Hot off her breakthrough in Dead Calm (1989), Hollywood poached her quickly, (mis)casting her in a series of prominent but mostly forgettable, largely thankless roles—from Days of Thunder (1990) and Billy Bathgate (1991) to Far and Away (1992) and My Life (1993). In between, her real claim to fame (for a time) was bagging Hollywood’s biggest star, not necessarily popping on screen. Or at least that’s how I viewed her in the fall of 1993, when the Harold Becker-directed, Aaron Sorkin-penned Malice was released in theaters…...

Steven Spielberg's filmmaking techniques took a large bound forward in 2001 with the release of "A.I. Artificial Intelligence." The sci-fi film, set in a near future populated by conscious androids, was a project Spielberg took over from an ailing Stanley Kubrick, who passed on it when he felt Spielberg could do it better. In "A.I.," Spielberg's photography and editing were very different from the slick, adventure films and glossy prestige pictures he had become popular making. Now everything was hazy, staid, more deliberate.
Although he had already won three Oscars (two for "Schindler's List" and one for "Saving Private Ryan") and was widely considered to be a reigning master of Hollywood's blockbuster class, Spielberg evolved. After 2001, Spielberg's career bifurcated into dispassionate effects-based thrillers wherein the filmmaker was merely experimenting, and deeply passionate political thrillers that used the politics of the past to reflect on issues of the day.

Clipse rapper No Malice has thrown his hat into the ring of unpredictable musical team-ups, welcoming potential collaborations with the likes of Coldplay and The Killers.
Malice and Pusha T sat down with their manager Steven Victor in a recent interview with Goat, in which the duo revealed whom they’d like to collaborate with in the future.
“As far as hip-hop goes, the highwater mark is always collaborating with Jay-Z, so I would like that,” Malice began. “Outside of hip-hop, I would like to see Clipse with artists like Coldplay and The Killers, with big arena records, festivals, something that moves globally.”
King Push, however, feels a little differently, after seemingly reaching his collaboration limit. “Man. I don’t know. I’m collab’d out,” he said. “I don’t even care about collaborations if it’s not among a great body of work. I’m into cohesive, great bodies of work.

The three – a deep sea fishing veteran, his son and a mysterious youngster – each have different and clashing motivations for embark on what appears to be a dangerous, possibly hopeless, mission. Naming horror movies is a serious business. It needs to sound scary, it shouldn’t give too much away, ideally it shouldn’t be named the same as someone else’s film, but it should also be memorable enough to stick in the brain. So unsurprisingly a lot of horror filmmakers have opted to call their movie “scary sounding adjective”.
But which word is scariest? We have ranked the movies based entirely on how alarming our perception of the adjective is. Come at us in the comments.
7. Ominous
Rain clouds can be ominous. Your boss saying “can I borrow you for a minute” can be ominous.
But to describe your child dying in an accident and a mysterious stranger offering to bring him back to life as “Ominous” feels like a bit of an understatement. That’s the plot of this film from 2015 by Peter Sullivan, which sounds like it...

Alec Baldwin just sort of happened all at once. For a long time, there were movies without Baldwin, and then suddenly, in 1988, there were five. He was an unfaithful slime of a husband in Jonathan Demme's "Married to the Mob," an unfaithful slime of a boyfriend in Mike Nichols "Working Girl," a creepy slime of a best friend in John Hughes' "She's Having a Baby," an ambitious slime of a radio executive in Oliver Stone's "Talk Radio" and an absolute gem of a dead man in Tim Burton's "Beetlejuice."
Baldwin was immediately pegged as a character actor with leading man potential, and got his chance to prove his worth in 1990 as Jack Ryan in John McTiernan's adaptation of Tom Clancy's "The Hunt for Red October." Ryan is a brilliant CIA analyst who correctly deduces that legendary Soviet submarine captain Marko Ramius (Sean Connery) has absconded...

In a deal which transforms a local project into an international production, Taiwan’s Tydal Productions has struck a co-production deal with the Czech Republic’s Lonely Production to make “Malice,” a potentially arresting high-sea thriller to be directed by Lungyin Lim.
Set up at Lungyin Lim’s Tydal Productions and Aview Images, both based in Taiwan, “Malice” is produced by Aview Images’s SheeHeng Kuek and Ivy Shen Yu-hua.
Scheduled to shoot from December 2023, it will now be co-produced by Prague’s Lonely Production, founded by producer-director Michal Sikora.
Lonely Production will oversee the post-production package in the Czech Republic and Europe. Lim has a preference for shooting in Super 16 mm with digital VFX, European expertise feeding into the traditional film process. This will extend the film’s creative possibilities and production quality, Kuek said.

Aaron Sorkin is widely considered the king of film and TV dialogue. Actors line up for a chance to feast on his words and the opportunity to deliver a Sorkin-penned speech. And yet his monologues never seem out of place; they fit organically into his stories and his characters. Sorkin says there’s a musicality to that.
“If you’re going to write a speech, you want the water to boil, you want to be able to get there,” Sorkin tells Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast. “It’s almost like in a musical. A musical number always works best when it’s the result of words no longer being able to do the trick.” Listen below!
Just this week, Sorkin landed his fourth Academy Award nomination for what may well be his magnum opus, “The Trial of the Chicago 7.” It’s his second feature as a director, a timely...

It’s happening. It’s finally happening. What was once a particularly pervasive and aggressive Internet meme is now a reality. HBO Max’s list of new releases for March 2021 is highlighted by none other than the mythical Snyder cut.
The entity now known as Zach Snyder’s Justice League will premiere on March 18. While it was originally planned to be a four-part miniseries, this recut version of 2017’s ill-fated Justice League will in fact be a four-hour movie. But perhaps even four hours won’t be enough for fans who have been waiting years for just such an event.

Lyra has spent season two tormented by guilt over Roger’s death and wishing she could have done more to help him. Now it looks like she’s going to get the chance. Exclusive: There are dozens of dialogue lines that made William Goldman an iconic screenwriter — “Follow the money” from All the President’s Men, and “Is it safe?” from Marathon Man among them — but to a legion of top screenwriters whom Goldman helped find their voices, here’s a lesser-known signature line just as memorable: “I’m in the book.”
That is what Goldman said to many young screenwriters who dared ask a legend for help, back when people actually thumbed through the white pages of the New York City phone book. That’s where Goldman left his Manhattan number, which led to tutorials over lunches at places like The Carlyle Hotel, where Goldman held court and spread the gospel of good writing to so many. Even though he wrote many a withering column about movies he didn’t love — the manipulative bookend-ed start and end of Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan...

A few years ago, after rough battles with the press and paparazzi and the cancellation of his MSNBC talk show, Alec Baldwin penned a much-publicized article announcing he’d be leaving “public life.” Baldwin seems to have reconsidered that departure and has been all over the media this last year. is currently appearing in two popular films, “BlacKkKlansman” and “Mission Impossible: Fallout.” On the television side he appeared in the limited series “The Looming Tower”, recreated his recurring role on the reboot of “Will and Grace”, hosted “Match Game” and will premiere this fall in “The Alec Baldwin Show,” an interview program on ABC.
Most notably Baldwin continued his appearances on “Saturday Night Live” lampooning Donald Trump. He recently received his 19th Emmy nomination for Best Comedy Supporting Actor. Baldwin won the award last year and has previously won two Best Comedy Actor twice for his role on “30 Rock.

"For me, growing up, writing was just a chore to be gotten through for a school assignment," says Aaron Sorkin — the writer of A Few Good Men, Malice, The American President, Sports Night, The West Wing, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Charlie Wilson's War, The Social Network, Moneyball, The Newsroom, Steve Jobs and 2017's Molly's Game, an adaptation of the memoir of Molly Bloom, a former Olympic-level skier who ran bicoastal poker games that landed her in the sights of the FBI and the Russian mob — as we sit down in his dimly lit and...

Aaron Sorkin was probably born in the wrong era. And yet here he is, still kicking in 2017. His characters operate under an impossibly witty and clever language, engaging in exchanges only experienced in the movies of Howard Hawks or Frank Capra. It’s fueled by a rapid-fire repartee. For better or worse, Sorkin has replicated this breathless style of dialogue. With the upcoming release of “Molly’s Game,” Sorkin’s directorial debut, we decided to rank every film the man has penned over the course of 25 years. “Malice” (1993) Sorkin’s shoddiest screenplay is also his most dated. In “Malice”, Nicole Kidman plays.

Aaron Sorkin is currently making the press rounds in promotion of his directorial debut “Molly’s Game,” and he recently shared an eye-opening story with USA Today about one of his earliest gigs as the screenwriter of “Malice.” Sorkin had just come off the success of “A Few Good Men” when he re-teamed with Columbia Pictures to write the Alec Baldwin and Nicole Kidman-starring thriller, which was being directed by Harold Becker (“The Boost,” “Sea of Love”).
According to Sorkin, Becker specifically requested him to write a “steamy” sex scene for Nicole Kidman. “Early on in my career, I wrote a movie that I’m not very proud of at all, it just turned into a mess,” Sorkin said, “Alec Baldwin and Nicole Kidman were in it. The director, very close to the start of photography, decided that we were missing a sex scene between Alec and Nicole.”
