Matt Smith’s incarnation of The Doctor, or Number Eleven if you will, has always reminded me of TV detective Columbo. A strange connection at first I suppose, but it ‘s the fact both are masters at the art of misdirection. Both appear on the surface a little befuddled, a little confused, not quite sure what they are doing or where they are going. This is, of course, all an act, one designed to make their enemies underestimate them and give them an advantage from the start. Matt Smith was outstanding in his use of that goofiness, making his Doctor one of the funnier incarnations. George Mann has at times managed to channel that Matt Smith quality nicely in his writing, adding nice depth to a lot of the stories.

Adult Swim has released the theme song to Adventure Time: Elements and it features Jake and Finn returning to the land of Ooo, but it's a lot weirder than it was before, and that making Ooo any weirder doesn't seem like an easy task.
There are more strange and mysterious adventures that await Jake and Finn, the Ice King and Betty as they explore what’s become of their home while they were away on their ocean expedition in Islands. This evolved Ooo is full of new strange new characters and landscapes.
Adventure Time: Elements is a mini-series will launch with a special episode set to air on April 21st. The from April 24th to April 27th the network will release two-episode batches each night. All of this is leading up to the shown conclusion, which is coming next year. Enjoy all of this while it lasts!

“Adventure Time” has a long way to go, but in many ways, it already ended. In early February 2017, just a few months after Cartoon Network notified the team behind its most surprising breakout hit that the show was canceled, the cast finished their last round of voice work. The final episodes were written, and the saga of Finn and Jake in the magical, post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo came to a close as the cast and crew scattered to new projects. The fruits of their labor will gradually unfurl on Cartoon Network until 2018 — although the timing remains uncertain. Fans must wait for the slow march to the finale, but the creative team is moving on.
“It was bittersweet,” said head writer Kent Osborne, recalling the last day of recording. “A lot of shows don’t last this long, but this felt different because it was just so popular.”

Roan has only been the king for nine days and people are already trying to kill him.
The 100 Season 4 Episode 2 found several of our characters dealing with the harsh realities of being a leader – Clarke, Bellamy, and Roan all had to make tough, if not virtually impossible, choices.
View Slideshow: The 100 Photos from "Heavy Lies the Crown"
This was a stronger installment than The 100 Season 4 Premiere, largely thanks to how well-balanced the action was between Arkadia and Polis.
The show occasionally struggles with making the Sky People drama and the larger grounder political drama equally compelling. But the two plots worked in tandem to great effect during "Heavy Lies the Crown."
Let's start with the Polis portions, which were more self-contained and less sprawling.
The hour opened by introducing us to a brand new character named Ilian. The young grounder (of the Trishanakru clan) seems poised to become an important figure.

The end of the world is nigh – again! – and tensions are rising on The 100 Season 4 Episode 1.
... not that tensions were ever particularly low on this show to begin with.
The premiere picked up mere moments after the jaw-dropping events of The 100 Season 3 Finale. This made for an action packed (and super plot-heavy) installment.
“Echoes” does a lot of the heavy lifting of laying the ground work for this season.
It establishes what I assume will be the two major through-lines: (1) the fight for who will control Polis and the coalition of the clans and (2) the larger scale struggle to save, well, all of humanity from imminent destruction (and to keep it all a secret in the meantime).
The former will have to try hard to impress me. Already, it’s very similar to the political intrigue we dealt with during the first half of The 100 Season 3, the initial Polis arc...

[Editor’s Note: The following is what IndieWire TV Critic Ben Travers claims to be an interview he conducted with Vanilla Ice — an “expert on ice,” according to Mr. Travers — about the new At&T Original Series, “Ice.” Despite his insistence, it’s quite clear that the below back-and-forth is not an interview (no recording or even transcript could be provided upon request), but simply a staged conversation using lyrics from “Ice, Ice, Baby” to introduce key points about the TV show, “Ice.” We apologize for his behavior, as well as to Mr. Ice, if he happens to read this. But it’s been a long week, so we’re just gonna go with it.]
All right, stop.
Yes, please. Let me stop you right here. If all you need to know about “Ice” is whether or not it’s worth your time, I can safely assure you it’s not.
Collaborate and listen.
Collaborate? Like, who’s working together on “Ice”? Well, that’s really the only reason anyone is aware “Ice” exists. The At&T Original Series airing on DirecTV’s Audience Network is directed and produced by Antoine Fuqua, and he’s easily the biggest name here. The main acting talent consists of Cam Gigandet, who hasn’t aged a day (or discovered any depth of emotion) since he killed Marissa 10 years ago on “The O.C.”, and Jeremy Sisto, who’s back to playing the black sheep brother you want to love but know you can’t.
Ice is back with a brand new invention.
I have to disagree with you there.

There has never been a show quite like “Adventure Time,” which can be silly, wise and utterly mesmerizing within the confines of a few unpredictable minutes. The news that it will end its run in 2018, after eight years and nine seasons, may come as a shock to anyone invested in its unique pleasures. “Adventure Time” wasn’t just a well-honed animated program with equal appeal to viewers of all ages; that zany attitude delivered warm tidbits of life advice and an emotional purity with the concision of great folk music, and the same lasting power. It was the kind of perfectly conceived formula that suggested immortality. Even with the end in sight, its legacy is secure.

Antoine Fuqua’s just released his western “The Magnificent Seven,” which dominated the box office taking in a solid $35 million in its opening weekend. Now, the director is ready to release his upcoming drama series, “Ice,” for At&T’s Audience network.
“Each diamond has lived a life. Persevered. Suffered,” says Jeremy Sisto in the first teaser trailer. “Each one tells us a story, and that story, no matter how many times it’s told, can outlive us all.”

“The Simpsons” has one of the most memorable opening sequences on television, and the famous “couch gag” bits have grown in complexity since the initial days, when Bart was simply squeezed off the couch like an exploding bottle cap. Now, for the all-new Season 28 premiere of “The Simpsons,” the entire opening sequence is a gag mirroring the renowned younger series “Adventure Time”.

“Adventure Time”, much like the imaginary middle-class world of Springfield, has a memorable world of its own, and its opening sequence roams through the mythical Land of Ooo from the radioactive leftovers of the Bad Lands to Finn’s tree fort in the Grass Lands. In the new couch gag for premiere episode “Monty Burns’ Fleeing Circus,” the Simpsons explore their version of the radioactive Bad Lands filled with barrels of toxic waste, multi-eyed squirrels and poor Ralph hanging from a tire swing.

You might not recognize the name, but Adventure Time is casting one of the longest shadows over the world of animation right now.
The show, which racked up its 12th Emmy nomination this year, already has six wins under its belt, largely without being paid much attention to by most mainstream media. But its backstory is a wonderful example of grassroots success in a crowded field.

The Adventure Time Lego playset concept that popped up on Lego Ideas last month got 10,000 supporters and has officially been approved by the company. The playset idea was created by aBetterMonkey and Lego officially announced that they’ll be bringing it to life. This will be an awesome Adventure Time collectible, and if you’re a fan of the series, you’ll want to get your hands on this. Here’s the description:
Characters of cult cartoon Adventure Time got the Lego treatment in the form of brick-built figures. Sturdy builds with basic poseability were the goal to make this a toy set rather than a display model. The small scale used helped make the parts count low at 640 bricks for fifteen characters with accessories.
The characters included in the set are Finn with his sword, Jake, Princess Bubblegum, Lady Rainicorn, Marceline with her axe-bass, Bmo with joysticks, the Ice King with ice lightings,...

"Mad Max: Fury Road" kicked off the summer with rave reviews, and the love hasn't let up. Fans can't stop fawning over its feminist message and jaw dropping practical stunts, and one YouTuber and artist decided to combine it with another much-loved property: "Adventure Time." The result is the glorious "Madventure Time" trailer, which its creator, Egor Zhgun, said was inspired by Ryan May's mashup concept art. Read More: Watch: Filmmaker Creates Goofy Trailer for Mashup 'It's a Mad, Mad, Mad Max Fury Road' The video plays perfectly, with excellent animation and casting. Finn is naturally Max, and Jake transforms into his trusty Ford Falcon. The Ice King fits the shoes and breathing mask of Imperator Joe, while Marceline is Coma-Doof Warrior, the always needed flamethrower-guitar player, and Lemongrab is Nux. Last but certainly not least, Princess Bubblegum transforms into Imperator Furiosa. Watch the amazing video above courtesy of.

The Tardis inside the Tardis? (Doctor Who) That can’t be good.
I’ve been attending San Diego Comic Con and covering it for Sound on Sight for the past four years. This year, prompted by my sister, I decided to cosplay at the Con, wearing a different costume each day, from Thursday through Sunday. I dusted off some Halloween costumes from years past, did repair and prep work as needed, packed an extra suitcase, and was ready to go. I expected it to be an entertaining diversion, a chance to embrace the Comic-Con vibe and get in on the fun in a new way, plus the notion of wearing some of my geek costumes around a group of people who would actually get them was certainly appealing. I had no idea how completely the decision to cosplay would shape my Con.

Massively popular Cartoon Network show Adventure Time is being developed at Warner Bros. as an animated feature film.
The Pendleton Ward-created cartoon, which is currently airing its sixth season and has been renewed for a seventh, centers on the adventures of a human boy named Finn and his best friend dog Jake, who fight to protect their beloved Land of Ooo from the villainous Ice King, who is usually searching for his coveted Princess Bubblegum.
Chris McKay, who exec-produced The Lego Movie and has been tapped to direct The Lego Batman Movie, and Roy Lee, who produced The Lego Movie and is producing McKay’s Batman feature, are teaming to produce the adaptation. Cartoon Network Studios will be involved, as will Ward, who is expected to write and produce the feature.

The Cartoon Network show will become an animated feature for Warner Bros, and it'll continue the story of 12-year old Finn and his dog, Jake. They do battle in the Land Of Ooo to keep it safe from the Ice King. But don't rely on a few words on a website that make the whole thing sound like a homogenous kids' cartoon: do check out Adventure Time for yourself. It's really something special.
The film is to be produced by Chris McKay and Roy Lee. McKay is the man directing The Lego Batman Movie, and Lee is producing that one as well. Both were involved with the first The Lego Movie too. Adventure Time...

Adventure Time on the Us Cartoon Network has quickly become something of a phenomenon with kids, fans of more surreal animation and those who enjoy cartoons while, shall we say, chemically enhanced. Or, to use the scientific term: tripping balls. But the head rush of a ‘toon series has many loyal fans and celebrities queuing up to lend their voices, so it’s perhaps not that surprising to learn that Warner Bros. is looking to turn the show into a movie. The basic setup of the show finds 12-year-old Finn and canine best friend Jake questing to protect their beloved land of Ooo, which is under threat from a variety of villains, most notably the Ice King, who is on his own mission to track down his beloved Princess Bubblegum. Created by Pendleton Ward, the series has been running since 2010, pumping out all manner of weirdness that has led to...

The wild and wacky journeys of Finn and Jake are heading to the big screen. Deadline has word that Cartoon Network's hit animated series Adventure Time is being developed by the channel's sister company Warner Bros. Pictures for a feature film adaptation. The Lego Movie co-director and producer Chris McKay and Roy Lee are producing the film, so it's bound to be great. For those who don't know, the series follows a 12-year old boy named Finn and his talking dog best friend Jake who go on endless quests to protect their beloved Land of Ooo, usually from the Ice King who is searching for his Princess Bubblegum. It's just as cooky as it sounds, and the series has fans young and old, not unlike cartoons such as "SpongeBob SquarePants" or "Ren & Stimpy" from the 90s. It sounds like the film is early in development, and we may not see it for awhile.

The movie will be produced by Roy Lee, one of the executive producers of The Lego Movie, and Chris McKay, the man behind Robot Chicken. The show, currently in its sixth season, loosely follows a 12-year-old boy named Finn and his dog, Jake. Other details haven't been announced yet, but hopefully we will see a bevy of princesses, all of whom the Ice King will be obsessed with.

Windbreaker City is densely populated in this week’s episode, in which our heroic precinct leverages their Tactical Village victory into a spot in the big leagues, taking on the Atf, U.S. Marshals, Ice, Homeland Security, and the FBI in a training exercise. Of course, it wouldn’t be a tangle with authority without Jake finding a way to piss off said authority, in this case, Nick Kroll (playing a version of himself, something fairly unusual for his guest stints). The Nine-Nine quickly gets relegated to the role of hostages, of course, and the ever–Die Hard–conscious Peralta decides they’d be better off playing Francis Gruber (brother to Hans, somehow also related to Jeremy Irons) and Company by rising up against both their “terrorist” captors and the agencies playing the good guys. For a show that once had action-comedy aspirations but has pretty much gone full workplace comedy...

When you watch Adventure Time the world of Finn the Human and Jake the Dog seems to be crazy and out of control, anything goes and it’s all about having fun. The truth is though the show created by Pendleton Ward has rules, and these rules carefully evolve to create what we see on the screen. Adventure Time: The Art of Ooo by Chris McDonnell takes a look behind the scenes of the show, not only looking at how the characters and world should be drawn but also just what goes into creating the magic that is Adventure Time.
With an introduction by Guillermo del Toro, Adventure Time: The Art of Ooo shows how huge the show has got. I fully agree with del Toro that The Ice King is one of the best characters, especially...

Adventure Time is very easy to love, it’s like bite sized doses of pop culture candy with an extra coating of sugar just to keep you on an energy high. Now that Adventure Time: Season 2 is coming out in the UK we can almost overdose on the tales of Finn and Jake.
This season of Adventure Time is very much a case of more of the same, and that is not a bad thing. With battles against the Ice King (who shaves and becomes the Nice King), Party Bears in monster’s stomachs, ninja adventures and even a trip into a video game. More importantly we even get a hint that there May be more humans out there with an introduction to Susan Strong.
Everything happens so fast in Adventure Time that you could blink and miss it, but there are times that important aspects of the cartoon stick,...

Unless you’ve seen Adventure Time it’s hard to explain exactly what it is, because it’s not just a cartoon, it’s an experience. It’s like your brain has taken a sugar overdose and gone on the craziest hyperactive journey it could think up. When watching Adventure Time: The Complete Season One for review, I found after I’d made it through the discs I was ready to go straight back to the beginning and watch them all again… and that is the magic of Adventure Time.
The basic idea for Adventure Time is that it takes Finn the human boy and Jake the wise dog who are the best of friends and in each episode they go on an adventure. This could be meeting characters such as Princess Bubblegum or Marceline but also battling others like Ice King whose obsession with kidnapping princesses. Each episode...

With Adventure Time: The Complete First Season hitting DVD this week, we thought we’d take a look at the cast of strange, but loveable, characters found in the hit show…
Finn the human
Abandoned in the woods as a child and raised by Jake the Dog’s parents, Finn may be the last human in Ooo. This silly fifteen year old doesn’t look very dangerous in his signature hat that covers up his long, flowing blonde hair, but he is actually a very brave hero (except for his fear of oceans). Alongside his best friend Jake, Finn bravely fights evil on their many adventures throughout the land of Ooo, he loves nothing more than saving the day using his skills in hand to hand combat.

Video game adaptations of television shows or movies doesn’t have a very positive history and it’s a short list of actually good games in that category. Thankfully, it looks like Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I Don’t Know! will be on that short list, because the show translates into a video game quite well and doesn’t seem like a forced situation where a property is simply trying to make a quick buck by having a video game among other things. The show has a hefty set of diverse characters, off-the-wall scenarios and stimulating visuals spanning nearly 5-years of existence that translate perfectly to a hack and slash dungeon crawler.
Fans of the show will appreciate the references and humor adopted from the series and non-fans in search for a good game should get what they’re looking for as well. I could imagine it...

Chicago – It takes a special sort of filmmaker to hit it big without compromising any artistic principles. This month marks a career high for Chicago’s own Diy trail-blazer, Joe Swanberg, whose microbudget gems have influenced everyone from Lynn Shelton (“Touchy Feely”) to Lena Dunham (“Girls”).
On Friday, August 23rd, two of Joe’s buzzed-about pictures will receive a limited theatrical release.
One is Ti West’s darkly satirical horror lark, “You’re Next,” which is currently being advertised at every creepy subway station in the Windy City (Swanberg plays an amusingly hatable character with a smug disregard for indie flicks). The other film is Swanberg’s 15th feature effort, “Drinking Buddies,” featuring an all-star cast, cinematography from a Cannes prize-winner (“Beasts of the Southern Wild” Dp Ben Richardson) and an actual budget. Yet Swanberg’s improvisational style and observant eye for naturalistic nuance remains entirely intact. Olivia Wilde is...

I don’t watch a lot of TV anymore. But when I do, I usually watch cartoons and movies. Why? Well, I don’t care for people who use a lot of hairspray and have tans (Jersey Shore) or flat out ignorance(Honey Boo Boo). I also don’t care for people who depends on their spouses’or ex-spouses’-to get a show (any Housewives/Wives show). Nor do I care for…females…who get paid to act like 12 year old girls when they’re well in adulthood (any Bad Girls Club show). Don’t get me started on the pawn shops. So, “reality” shows are not an option.
Sure there are more intellectual shows out there, but they are usually boring or require a strict following to enjoy, which is a problem when you don’t watch a lot of TV. So, when there are no good movies on,...

Television is worst when it's safe, and even some of the highest-rated shows in the landscape are culprits of pedaling the scripted norm: formulated one-liners, typical reveals, copying the routine methods of shows that have come before, simply re-packaging them for a different audience. And to honor that would be a slight to the brilliant breakout series elevating television to new heights: whether we're gasping every week at Shonda Rhimes' latest revelation on Scandal, waiting for the next blood-curdling murder on Dexter, or guiltily employing the twisted pleasure that is Pretty Little Liars, there's a lot of great TV that is evolving the art, and forcing us as viewers to grow along with it.

The creators of Cartoon Network's "Adventure Time" don't bury the series' 8-bit inspirations too deep: it's not uncommon for the series to play with the tropes of classic dungeon crawlers as animated hero Finn goes on whatever monster-slaying, treasure-hunting quest is set before him that week, set to a chiptune soundtrack. The season 5 episode "Mystery Dungeon" plays with these elements well, putting a mismatched group of the show's side characters together for an unexpected, stupid journey.
Anyway, that's all to say that D3 Publisher's announcement of their second "Adventure Time" game is a welcome one. Instead of going handheld as they did with the "Zelda II"-like "Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why’d You Steal Our Garbage?!," this fall's "Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I Don’T Know!" will be headed to consoles and the PC.

Cartoon Network has revealed their 2013-2014 TV show lineup today and, much to the dismay of fans, confirmed that that “Green Lantern: The Animated Series” and “Young Justice” have been canceled. While this may not come as the biggest surprise for the “Young Justice” viewers who paid attention to both the series’ hiatus and subsequent cancellation of its comic book counterpart, the news certainly comes as a blow for fans. Together with the end of “Green Lantern: The Animated Series”, this leaves only “Beware the Batman” and “Teen Titans Go” as the remaining DC Nation shows, both of which have yet to premiere on the network.
While the absence of the shows didn’t necessarily cement the cancellation of the series, Giancarlo Volpe, the showrunner for “Green Lantern: Tas” confirmed the news via his Twitter stating, “This time we knew. They just didn’t want us to announce it publicly until they did.

That show Is coming back for another season, the same of which can’t be said for Green Lantern or Young Justice – those two superhero shows have, at least according to the press release, been replaced by Teen Titans Go! and Beware the Batman. Also detailed in today’s press release is The Yoda Chronicles, which ties into the new Lego Star Wars releases.
Also returning are: Regular Show, Annoying Orange, Mad, The Amazing World of Gumball, The Looney Tunes Show, Ben 10 Omniverse, Dragons: Riders of Berk, Scooby-Doo! Mystery Inc., Johnny Test, Pokémon Black & White: Adventures in Unova, Beyblade Metal Fury, Almost Naked Animals and Scaredy Squirrel.
