Last month, we got a look at the trailer for the action thriller Duchess, the latest film from director Neil Marshall. Saban Films will be giving Duchess a digital and VOD release on August 9th… and with that date just one week away, a pair of promotional clips have made their way online. They’re called the “Home Invasion” and “Garage Ambush” clips, and you can watch them right here in this article.
In the UK, Duchess will be getting a limited theatrical release on August 9th, and will then be available for digital download on the 12th.
Marshall wrote the Duchess screenplay with Charlotte Kirk, who also stars as the title character, a tough, working-class, petty criminal who morphs into an anti-heroine to be reckoned with in a murky underworld, in the treacherous world of diamond smuggling. Determined to seek retribution she launches into a vicious and violent pursuit for vengeance.

Single White Female, directed by Barbet Schroeder and starring Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh, is a psychological thriller that not only captivated audiences with its tense narrative and compelling performances but also marked a significant point in the female-villain-led thrillers of the 1990s, taking what was originally a more direct-to-market “erotic thriller” (from filmmakers like Jag Mundhra) and making it mainstream, leading to a proliferation of similar films through the decade from filmmakers looking to cash-in… and it made a superstar out of actress Bridget Fonda.
The film centres on Allie Jones (Bridget Fonda), a software designer who, after discovering her fiancé’s infidelity, seeks a new roommate. She finds one in Hedra “Hedy” Carlson (Jennifer Jason Leigh), whose initially shy and supportive demeanour slowly...

The decade of the 1990s was fruitful for thrillers and mystery stories, including the ones that contain erotic elements too. The main director of this kind was David Lynch, who inscribed his name in history with the Twin Peaks fever sweeping over America.
However, there were other directors who tried to ride this hype train. Such an attempt was made in 1992, when the psychological thriller we’re going to talk about was released, and since then it gained such a cultish status it’s still discussed on Reddit.
Its plot revolves around Allison, a young woman who decides to separate from her fiancé and starts looking for a roommate. Eventually, she finds one, a femme fatale named Hedra, who seems to be incredibly interested in her neighbor's life.
However, when Allison starts thinking of reconciling with her boyfriend, Hedra grows jealous and even aggressive. The more we observe her changed behavior,...

On Netflix’s “Baby Reindeer” when Martha (Jessica Gunning) enters the pub where down-and-out comedian Donny Dunn (show creator and writer Richard Gadd) works, she is looking downcast, like she’s trying to disappear. One simple cup of tea opens her up. It’s an act of kindness (or pity), but that’s all it takes for Donny to become her new fixation. Her interest in him unfolds in a montage of colorful outfits, badly applied pink lipstick and lies. She sends him tens of thousands of emails, ranging from the randy (“myy curtains r waitinfro yu they r readyy”) to the ranting (“i just had an egg”). She follows him home and sits outside his window for hours, pretends to be a hot-shot lawyer with politicians’ names in her phone and to own a penthouse in Belsize Park. Martha...

“I want to do an erotic thriller and I’m also working on a neo-western that is also is like a noir,” beamed American Fiction filmmaker Cord Jefferson about his potential sophomore directorials.
The director spilled the beans on his next project to Deadline while walking the DGA Awards red carpet.
Jefferson is up tonight for first-time feature filmmaker. Following the world premiere of his Amazon MGM satirical comedy at TIFF, Jefferson was further launched out of a canon after the movie grabbed the Grolsch People’s Choice Award at the Great White North film fest; an Oscar bellwether.
Jefferson is twice nominated at this year’s Oscars for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Motion Picture of the Year.
Further teasing his next genre directorials, Jefferson said, “Both of them have similar themes to what’s in American Fiction through a much, much different lens.”

Lifetime had a massive hit on their hands with the original thriller Single Black Female back in 2022, and Deadline reports this afternoon that a sequel is on the way this year.
Single Black Female 2: Simone’s Revenge premieres March 2 at 8pm on Lifetime.
Deadline notes that the first Single Black Female – a fresh twist on the movie Single White Female – “averaged more than 8 million total viewers across linear and digital platforms.” Additionally, the film was Lifetime’s “number one original non-holiday movie of 2022.”
Amber Riley, Raven Goodwin and K. Michelle are all back in Single Black Female 2.
In the sequel, “Three years after narrowly escaping the murderous clutches of her half-sister Simone (Riley), Monica (Goodwin) is ready for a fresh start in Seattle as the host of the city’s #1 primetime investigative television program. With her best friend Bebe (Michelle) by her side and a new love interest, things are looking up for Monica.

After kicking off 2024 with discussions on the better-than-it-has-any-right-to-be sequel Hellbound: Hellraiser II (listen), the surprisingly progressive Killer Condom (listen) and the very gay (and very terrible) The Covenant, we’re wrapping up January with a conversation about Christian E. Christiansen‘s pseudo-remake of Single White Female: The Roommate.
The Roommate sees Sara (Minka Kelly), a young design student from Iowa, arrive for college in Los Angeles. Her wealthy roommate, Rebecca (Leighton Meester), is more than eager to take Sara under her wing and show her the ropes. The two become close, but when Sara begins to branch out and make more friends on campus, Rebecca becomes resentful. This brings out her more psychotic tendencies as she embarks on a mission to prove that Sara only needs one best friend: her.

Forgiven for Forgetting
After starting the year with one of the best horror sequels of all time in Hellbound: Hellraiser II, we moved into the hilariously smart German satire Killer Condom. Trace and I should have known the good times wouldn’t last!
With this week’s discussion of Renny Harlin‘s The Covenant, we begin a two-week stretch of poorly rated, very dumb thrillers. In the film, Caleb (Steven Strait) is a member of the popular Boys of Ipswich at an elite boarding school. He also has a dangerous birthright: the men in his family can use The Power to get what they want.
The trade-off? The more they use their abilities, the faster they age, as evidenced by his father’s (Stephen McHattie) condition.
Things change with the arrival of dangerous bad boy Chase (Sebastian Stan). Suddenly both Caleb’s relationship with Sarah (Laura Ramsey) and his 18th birthday ascension are under threat.

The nineties were the golden age of the thriller. Every other week, a star-driven thriller seemed to open in theaters, to the point that everyone took them for granted after a little while, and the genre dried up. Many of the best examples of the genre, like Basic Instinct, Single White Female, Jennifer 8, and others, hold up quite well in retrospect. One of my favourites has always been Jonathan Kaplan’s Unlawful Entry, which I did a Best Movie You Never Saw video about not long ago.

We’ve all got that friend. The one who convinces us to push our boundaries or take that crazy risk, even though we have a hunch we’ll probably get hurt. They’re exciting, they’re cool, maybe even supportive, but they tend to lead us down the road to trouble, only to duck out when the consequences roll around. Film has a long history of these toxic troublemakers. Looking back, the Horror/Thriller genre was practically built on the backs of these smiling devils, who lure us in with their fun-loving wiles, then lead us off the side of a cliff.

What’s more dangerous than a teenage girl? Sexualizing one.
The fear of newfound sexual freedom, particularly the libidos of adolescent girls, were interrogated, explored, and — at times — exploited in ’90s-era high school-set psychosexual thrillers. From the age of characters portrayed, actors’ requests for body doubles, or the questionably problematic market for watching real-life teens undress onscreen, the eroticism of teens in the ’90s still has resonance today.
Now, as Todd Haynes’ “May December” shows the lasting psychological effects of the traumatic grooming of a male tween (Charles Melton), and Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Poor Things” charts a sexual awakening from a developing child mind in an adult body (played by Emma Stone), it’s only right to return to the trend of coming-of-age sexuality onscreen, most infamously weaponized by a niche genre trend of thrillers framed by teen female perpetrators.
Sex is back onscreen, but what did overt eroticism look like in films past?...

Saltburn, the second film written and directed by Emerald Fennell — three years after Promising Young Woman, for which she won the best original screenplay Oscar — had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival’s Palm Theatre on Thursday evening. And the picture, which Amazon plans to put into limited theatrical release on Nov. 24, and then open wide on Dec. 1, certainly left people talking.
A pitch-black comedy packed with sex, violence and music, like Fennell’s first film, Saltburn, which is set in the first decade of this century, chronicles the efforts of one young Oxford student (Barry Keoghan, an Oscar nominee earlier this year for The Banshees of Inisherin) to ingratiate himself into the life of another (Euphoria’s Jacob Elordi). The latter invites the former to spend time with his extremely wealthy family — including his mother (Rosamund Pike), father (Richard E. Grant) and sister (Alison Oliver) — at their mansion,...

Surprise! Legendary director Barbet Schroeder, in Locarno to introduce his latest doc “Ricardo and Painting,” was greeted with a Special Tribute Award before the screening.
“Is this for the film?” Shroeder, a modest man, asked on stage. “No,” said Locarno festival director Giona Nazzaro. “It’s for being Barbet Schroeder.”
Despite focusing on harsher subjects in his previous documentaries, “General Idi Amin Dada: A Self Portrait,” “Terror’s Advocate” or “The Venerable W.,” this time Schroeder decided to follow painter Ricardo Cavallo.
“I have already done my ‘Trilogy of Evil.’ I could continue: the world is full of bad people. But then there was this friend of mine, who I thought was such a good person,” he tells Variety.
Cavallo, convinced that “true life exists in creation,” could teach anyone how to change their way of seeing, claims Schroeder, sacrificing everything for his art.

A couple months after spotlighting the world’s greatest actress, the Criterion Channel have taken a logical next step towards America’s greatest actress. May (or: next week) will bring an eleven-film celebration of Jennifer Jason Leigh, highlights including Verhoeven’s Flesh + Blood, Miami Blues, Alan Rudolph’s Mrs. Parker, her directorial debut The Anniversary Party, and Synecdoche, New York, and a special introduction from Leigh. Another actor’s showcase localizes directorial collaborations: Jimmy Stewart’s time with Anthony Mann, an eight-title series boasting the likes of Winchester ’73 and The Man from Laramie. Two more: a survey of ’80s Asian-American cinema (Chan Is Missing being the best-known) and 14 movies by Seijun Suzuki.
That would be enough for one month (or two), but No Bears and Cette maison will have their streaming premieres, while Criterion Editions offers the Infernal Affairs trilogy (plus its packed set), Days of Heaven, and the aforementioned Chan Is Missing.

“No,” when asked, in a paparazzi video obtained by the Daily Mail, “It’s too nice being a civilian.”

Last year, Karina Longworth’s hit Hollywood podcast You Must Remember This looked at the Erotic ‘80s. Longworth is now delving into the same topic of sex in film and TV across the 1990s for the next season.
The show, which is presented in partnership with Audacy’s Cadence13, returns on March 28 with its 21-episode season.
In the 1980s and 1990s, Hollywood movies explored the sexual lives, mores and fantasies of adults with degrees of candor, realism and imagination not seen before or since. While Erotic 80s episodes covered the theme one year at a time, the super-sized Erotic 90s breaks down themes from Lolitas and sex symbols to gender politics and more.
The first episode covers the disastrous rollout of Nc-17 and the evolving state of both porn and feminism at the dawn of the ’90s, with topics including David Lynch, Harvey Weinstein, “pro-porn” feminism, “the new morality,” video stores,...

One of my earliest cinematic memories came from watching the films of Jennifer Jason Leigh. The actress has given countless performances that are utterly stunning. I was utterly taken in by films like Fast Times at Ridgemont High, The Hitcher, The Big Picture, Rush, Single White Female, and many others. And as of late, she has grown to be one of the most versatile and talented performers working today, with movies like The Hateful Eight and Possessor. Now, she performs stunningly in the second and final season of Hunters.
Speaking to someone who has long held a high spot in your list of favorite actors, it was a joy to take a moment with Jennifer. She opened up about taking on the role of Chava Apfelbaum and working with series creator David Weil. It may have been brief, but I chatted with the great Jennifer Jason Leigh. And, of course,...

Casting is a subtle art, and though casting directors are the backbone of the industry in a lot of ways, directors are more deeply involved in the process than even most people realize. So much of making Quentin Tarantino's stories work hinges on casting, and for his ninth film, "The Hateful Eight," it was a crucial element. In a 2015 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Tarantino explained that he couldn't cast the role of Daisy Domergue, played by Jennifer Jason Leigh, as he normally would with any other project.
"It was almost an impossible role to cast in a conventional way," he explained. "I.E., an actress coming in the room and knocking our socks off, and us saying, 'Oh wow, that's Daisy.' Because if you've seen the movie, you know that the way she is in the last chapter is not necessarily the way she is in the chapters building up to it.

"Nocebo" is an equally psychological and physical horror movie. It's mind and body horror, both surreal and all too realistic. Director Lorcan Finnegan's film takes a horrific part of the world, which is best not to spoil, and turns it into a suitably nightmarish setting featuring stars Eva Green and Chai Fonacier.
The home is another cage in Finnegan's new film. "Lorcan explored that a bit in "Vivarium,'" Green told us in a recent interview, referencing Finnegan's 2019 sci-fi mystery. "It was something like being the perfect house, but it's too perfect and you choke. There's something when everything is too perfect, it's not right."
Green is an actor who works with true independent spirits. The "Penny Dreadful" star has made some box office hits, like "Casino Royale," but she's also made several out-of-the-box films, such as "Franklyn," "Perfect Sense," and "The Salvation." With "Nocebo," Green stars in another...

Prime Video got off to a fast start this summer with the release of The Boys season 3 on June 3. Now, as we enter the dog days, Prime Video is set to keep the warm weather good times rolling with a new twist on an old classic. That’s right, Amazon’s list of new releases for August 2022 is highlighted by some good old-fashioned baseball.
A League of Their Own, the TV adaptation of Penny Marshall’s 1992 movie, is set to premiere on Aug. 12. Like the movie before it, the series will dramatize the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League which saw women playing America’s pastime while the major leagues were on pause for World War II. Abbi Jacobson (Broad City) co-created the show and will star as catcher Carson Shaw.
Other Prime Video Originals of note this month include season 2 of British comedy The Outlaws on and the Ron Howard-directed Thirteen Lives,...

Prime Video will continue rolling out its summer slate in the month of August, releasing new original series, as well as a mix of suspenseful films, action movies and more.
Amazon’s series version of “A League of Their Own” will debut its eight-episode first season on Aug. 12, introducing new characters and stories set in the historical opening of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League (Aagpbl).
Ron Howard’s “Thirteen Lives” tells the real-life story of how a young boys’ soccer team was rescued from the Thai mountain cave where they got stuck for 10 days along with their coach.
Other new film arrivals include hits from earlier this summer, “The Lost City” starring Sandra Bullock, Daniel Radcliffe, Channing Tatum and Brad Pitt, as well as “Sonic the Hedgehog 2.” Academy Award-nominated film “Licorice Pizza” also arrives on Prime Video this month.
Freevee will also have new arrivals this month.

The second season of the Mubi Podcast, titled “Only in Theaters,” tells surprising stories of individual cinemas that had huge impacts on film history, and in some cases, history in general. In Episode 1, host Rico Gagliano sits down with Barbet Schroeder to delve into the wild history of the Cinémathèque Française and its legendary founder, Henri Langlois. In this extended conversation, the filmmaker shares memories of the French New Wave, his Oscar-winning film Reversal of Fortune, and working with Pink Floyd in the late ‘60s.To listen to the episode and subscribe on your preferred podcast app, click here.Earlier this year, I spoke to Barbet Schroeder for this week’s episode of the Mubi Podcast. Sticking to the thriller genre that’s been his stomping ground on both the big and small screen, Stephan Rick’s second English-language film “The Good Neighbor” is a remake of his 2011 German-language debut feature of the same title. The setting has changed, but the story remains largely untouched. Now Luke Kleintank and Jonathan Rhys Meyers play new acquaintances whose shared complicity in an accidental death creates increasingly unsavory conflict.
Competent performances and a slick veneer make this revamp go down easily enough. Still, one wishes Rick had placed more emphasis on Hitchcockian suspense, rather than trusting the slow-moving tale will hold us via plot and character complexities that really aren’t particularly evident.
American journalist David (Kleintank of the series “FBI: International” and “Man in the High Castle”) has accepted a job with the “European Press Network” in Riga in the wake of a bad relationship breakup. While he gets settled,...

Ariana DeBose and Jennifer Jason Leigh have joined Chris Pine’s directorial debut, “Poolman.”
Fully financed by Stuart Ford’s AGC Studios, the actors join an existing cast of Annette Bening and Danny DeVito. Pine also stars in the movie, which is billed as a moving tribute to Los Angeles.
Plot details for the pic are so far sparse, but “Poolman” is crafted as a nod to famous LA noirs like “Chinatown,” “The Long Goodbye,” “The Big Lebowski” and “La La Land.”
DeBose is fresh off her awards season sweep, which included Oscar, BAFTA and SAG awards for her star-making historic portrayal of Anita in Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story.” Her other credits include “Hamilton,” “The Prom” and HBO’s “Westworld.” DeBose is also set to host the Tony Awards in June.
Meanwhile, Leigh — an Oscar nominee for “The Hateful Eight” — most recently starred in TV series “Hunters” and Lena Dunham’s “Sharp Stick.

One of the most exciting films to come out of 2021’s Tribeca Film Festival was “Poser,” a prickly thriller set in Columbus, Ohio’s underground music scene. The film, which follows a girl who launches a music podcast in an attempt to befriend her punk idols and is quickly sucked down a dark path, earned praise for its bold voice and strong performance from first-time leading actress Sylvie Mix. The film quickly drew comparisons to similarly driven thrillers like “Single White Female,” and its theatrical release has been highly anticipated by many indie film lovers. If you’re one of them, the wait is almost over, as the film has dropped a new trailer and poster ahead of a June theatrical run from Oscilloscope Laboratories.
The official synopsis for “Poser” reads: “Wallflower Lennon Gates (Mix) yearns for access to the inner sanctum of the underground music scene in Columbus, Ohio.

Though the confusingly named initiative “FX on Hulu” is on its way out, FX is still bringing premium television to Hulu in the meantime.
Hulu’s list of new releases for April 2022 is highlighted by FX limited series Under the Banner of Heaven. This adaptation of the non-fiction book by John Krakauer stars Andrew Garfield as a Mormon police detective whose faith is shaken when investigating a murder involving the church.
It’s not all just FX on the TV side of things for Hulu this month, however. The streamer is debuting second seasons of its series The Hardy Boys (April 6) and Woke (April 8). There isn’t much to report from Hulu’s original movies arm aside from true crime documentary Captive Audience on April 21. But that doc about one family’s 50-year journey for justice sounds like a must-watch.

“Game of Thrones” star Lena Headey is set to make her directorial debut on a film called “Violet,” a psychological thriller that’s in the vein of “The Talented Mr. Ripley” and “Single White Female.”
“Violet” is based on a 2019 book by author Sji Holliday, and it concerns two solo female travelers who form an intense friendship while in a cramped cabin on the Trans-Siberian Express. But things quickly start to unravel when it becomes clear that one of the women is not who she claims to be.
Gareth Pritchard wrote the script. Production is meant to begin in October 2022.
Goldfinch Entertainment is producing and financing “Violet,” with Ben Charles Edwards and Phil McKenzie co-producing for Goldfinch and Pritchard also co-producing for his Sankara Pictures. Mark Foligno of Limelight Ctl will also co-produce.
Ed Boase and Marcus Stamps of Dark Alliance Film, which originally optioned the book, will executive produce.

I’m not going to lie, I’m really starting to enjoy the trashy nature of these horror/thriller themed Lifetime movies. I think it’s the unapologetic nature of their films, they remind me very much of my video renting heyday, when the sexploitation films of filmmakers like Jag Mundhra were popular and Single White Female inspired a gluttony of similar ‘vicious vixens’ revenge-style films. It also seems, at least to me, that Lifetime has taken the reigns from the likes of Syfy, who years ago produced cheap but fun movies that riffed on bigger budget movies and, ultimately, made their films almost a genre of their own. March 2022 is a great month for blonde women with cold, dead stares on Hulu.
With its list of new releases for March 2022, Hulu is highlighting two major original series ripped straight from the headlines. The first is The Dropout, which premieres on March 3. This show stars Amanda Seyfried (taking over from the previously cast Kate McKinnon) as Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes. This story about high-level corporate fraud is truly wild, enough so to accommodate several books, podcasts, and even an upcoming film starring Jennifer Lawrence. Hulu is certainly hoping its version is the definitive one.

Today marks the 60th birthday of one of the finest and most underrated actors working: the great Jennifer Jason Leigh. Aside from a brief dalliance with the mainstream in the early 90s, her 40+ year career has been spent largely in independent cinema, from her beginnings elevating schlock like Eyes of a Stranger to her most recent role in Lena Dunham’s Sundance 2022 entry, Sharp Stick.
Leigh has never shown any interest in airing any part of her life offscreen in public. This is likely one of the reasons she has gone under the radar throughout her career. She has amassed huge respect in the industry, but her lack of interest in trophy chasing has meant she has just one Oscar nomination to her name and her pursuit of privacy and choice of roles that she’s never been a huge star. I get the feeling that’s exactly how she wants it.

After years of being compared, Amber Riley and Raven Goodwin are finally sharing a screen - and it's the perfect pairing. Lifetime's upcoming "Single Black Female" follows Monica (Goodwin) as she grieves the loss of her father. While she's coping with her loss, she gets a new assistant, Simone (Riley) - who will turn out to have more than looks in common with her. Plot-wise, the remake of "Single White Female" departs in several ways from the 1992 psychological thriller - but the creepiness remains. Popsugar spoke to Riley about working with Goodwin, starring in a remake, and what's in store for her musical future.
Riley and Goodwin were at the top of the casting directors' wish list when she was offered the role. "It was really cool," she says. "Me and Raven already wanted to do a project together. We've known each other for years. We've been good friends for years.

Single Black Female is Amber Riley like you've never seen her before. A twist on the 1992 thriller Single White Female, the Lifetime flick allowed Amber to embrace a character much different than the one who catapulted her to fame on Glee. "I feel like we all have that dark side," the actress explained during E! News' Daily Pop on Wednesday, Feb. 2. "I feel like, you know, we go through our lives and we kind of try to make sure that we are being presentable, but in this movie, I just kind of got to let loose. Like, let it all hang out." Another reason Amber was eager to take on the role? She's a fan of the original film, describing it as "a cult classic, for...

The festive season is fast approaching, which can only mean two things for movie buffs: the traditional debate about the merits of "Die Hard" as a Christmas film will be rekindled, and much blog space will be devoted to unpacking the questionable messages lurking beneath the twinkly surface of "Love Actually."
Some movies date far worse than others, while some apparently suffer from accelerated "Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade"-style aging. Just take "Mrs. Doubtfire", with its psycho protagonist who definitely should not be around kids, a film which is now more uncomfortable to watch than its contemporary psycho thrillers like "Single White Female"...

As the Hollywood blockbuster machine continues to dust itself off and release some early winter hits, Hulu is going in a bit of a different direction with its list of new releases for November 2021.
There are no big Hulu original films of note this month. Instead there’s a whole host of original series. The TV parade starts on Nov. 5 with the release of Animaniacs season 2. Also getting a second season this month is monarchal comedy The Great on Nov. 19. The most intriguing series, however, is animated Marvel comedy Marvel’s Hit Monkey. As its name so graciously implies, this is a show about a hit monkey…as in monkey assassin. Naturally the hit monkey is haunted by the ghost of Jason Sudeikis because it’s important that everything make sense.
Though Hulu doesn’t have any original movies in November, its list of library movie titles is quite vast.

Fresh off her recent Emmy win for the comedy series “Hacks,” Jean Smart is ramping up development at her production company, SmartAngel Entertainment. Smart and her producing partner, Angeliki Giannakopoulos, have acquired the rights to the real-life stories of two individuals who challenged the status quo and took a stand to make a difference for marginalized voices.
Projects in development at SmartAngel include the true stories of John Hawkins, an Ole Miss college student who in 1981 refused to carry the Confederate flag; and country music artist, author and LGBTQ activist Chely Wright.
In 1981, Hawkins was at the University of Mississippi (“Ole Miss”) under a band scholarship. He became the first Black cheerleader to join the Ole Miss Varsity Cheerleader Squad. When asked by a reporter if he was willing to carry the Confederate flag on game days, he said no — which led to racial abuse and threats. Hawkins’ story resurfaced...

Before the Dm or chatroom, if you wanted to connect with a stranger pseudo-anonymously, you bought a personal ad. Taking place across outdoor venues in all five boroughs of New York City, the Tribeca Film Festival will celebrate its 20th anniversary June 9-20, screening a bevy of features, shorts, TV series, podcasts and games in what is being billed as the first major in-person film festival to take place in North America since the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Managing all the logistics to mount a proper in-person festival despite such circumstances would be a tall enough order, but the task of assembling a credible festival lineup across multiple disciplines, despite a near-total shutdown of film production for months, could have been quite a challenge on its own. It was something that Tribeca’s festival director Cara Cusumano was apprehensive about as the festival prepared to open for submissions last summer, but it turned out she needn’t have worried.
“We didn’t know what to expect, submissions-wise,” she says.

Plot: The true-crime tale of an FBI agent who finds himself having an affair with his informant. Review: There was a time that a thriller like Above Suspicion would be something you'd find on the regular in theatres. Flicks like Fatal Attraction or Single White Female used to be very popular, and they occasionally spill out into modern cinema. With the new film starring Emilia Clarke…...
